We are not a big group here with Outbacks! I'm also member of subaruoutback.org forum. The car is my wife's daily ride (lucky her!). I drive a '02 Chevy Blazer (company truck) during the week, but I really enjoy the Outback when I drive it, as it is the only car we own.

The mods I have:

Brake controller and tranny cooler (we tow a pop-up)

Maps lights turns ON with dome light (found this mod here)

I have '05 Outback's OEM 16'' alloy wheel for winter

Tinted windows

Parrot CK3000 Bluetooth system

Holy cow bat man!!! Nobody invited me to go camping.

Does that car have a back up alarm? What are those round things in the rear bumper?

What mods to do first? Hmmmm, how about a tag frame in black.

Great car, wish I could go camping. Next year maybe.

Yes sir,

I was looking to install the Tribeca's system, but it is over 200$. This system cost 40$, shipping included, on eBay. Even the drill bit comes with it! There is a choice in color, I took charcoal and it fits perfectly with the bumper color.

It is basically the same thing as the Tribeca's system. There is a small speaker that I installed in the cargo area and it starts beeping if there is an obstable within 6 feet. The beep goes faster as you approach the obstacle. At 1 feet, it beeps constantly.

That is an awesome Mod that took guts. Drilling into your rear bumper on a new car!

I think it should be an option on all Subarus. I put a flashing third brake light on both of mine. I got sick of people almost slamming my car. It flashes six times and then stops and goes solid. Or stops flashing if you remove your foot etc. Really wakes people up and protects my toddler. I picked it up on Ebay for $14. Couple of wires is all it takes.

Flashing break light: good idea. I may take a look at this. I got rear ended last friday on my Blazer. Fortunately, the bumper is metal and the car was a Mazda Protegé: he broke his grille, I got minor scratches. If it would have been the Outback, I would have got more damage.

Guts to drill holes? YES, my car is a lease!!! I checked several times before doing it, believe me. My wife backed up on snow/ice banks a couple times last winter and scratched the bumper. There won't be any other snowbank scratches on that bumper!!! She likes the mod (me too). The buzzer can be turned OFF with a switch on it (when you pull a trailer or hitch mounted bike rack).

I REALLY like red Outbacks, too bad they did it only on the XT version in Canada: too expensive for me (the 2.5i premium 4EAT cost 36K $, the XT: 42K $, before taxes). Subaru came back with red for Forester and Tribeca for MY '09.
