So somehow I tore my carpet on my driver's door sill

Really odd, it looks like my shoe tread just tore a chunk out of it. It's just missing/bare down to the 'base' of the carpet, all of the dark gray is gone. I suspect this is going to be monumentally shitty to try to fix, but does anyone have any clue what it will take to do so? Are these carpet pieces pre-cut and formed so that it's a single piece you pull and replace, or do you have to cut and add plugs and such?

 

I'm guessing to do so I'll have to pull the seats, rails, molding trim.. aggh.
