wsf0817 Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 The other day I noitced a very light chirping noise when I would push in the clutch. It occurs about half way through the pedal engagement. It is related to the clutch engagement and not the actual gear shift. When the car warms up it will go away. Its not the pedal because if I stop the throw mid-way the noise will persist until I push it the rest of the way in or let it out. Any ideas? TO bearing? Clutch on its way out? Thanks!
RHL Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Yea same here, ive been noticing it a couple of weeks back. when i first back out of my driveway in the morning, since the walls are close enough, the noise are reflected back. This only happens when i let the clutch out halfway and I dont notice it when its warmed up. any ideas? Thanks
ilh Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Me too. It seems to be temperature related as I never notice it at my underground garage at work that is still 75F. I only notice it on mornings with overnight temperatures under 50F, and it goes away quickly. I don't think I'm going to panic.
Miner WReX Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Noticed the same noise on my '08 WRX. It has only started happening in the last month or so. If it gets down near 60 at night and there is any humidity it'll do it for 5-10 mins in the morning on startup. I'm not all that concerned about it. Nothing I can really do until something actually goes wrong or becomes seriously noticeable anyway.
Dusten Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 i would assume a chirp, on the clutch pedal throw is going to be a Throw Our Bearing issue. Im not expert on LGT's, but that would be my assumption on any manual tranny

The throw out bearing was shot.
goneskiian Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 OK, yikes. I've got this as well. I don't like the idea that the TOB is going South on me.
