Jmacc Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 I bought a 2001 Legacy GT, and 5,000 miles into owning it I got a loud whining sound in my tranny. I took it to the dealership and to another shop and it sounds like I need a new tranny. Not a huge deal, as this was going to be a fun car anyways. (although a daily driver now) My question is now that I'm going to be spending 2000 on putting a 50k used transmission in and have it all taken apart anyways. I was thinking about getting a new clutch and possibly upgrading a bit. (car has 101,000 miles) Is it worth getting a better clutch, and just getting a normal transmission should be fine right? There really isn't any need to get anything else, even though I am going to start upgrading and seeing what i can get done to it over the winter. Or is this a prime time to get a double plated clutch , and do i need to upgrade to some other transmission if i'm going to try and get more HP out of the engine soon.? Thanks in advance
SLegacy99 Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Im confused. Was your stock tranny an auto or a manual? And you've had the car since it was new and at 5k miles it began to whine?
PhillyWilly Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 I think alot of people are viewing this thread for all the wrong reasons! "2001 Tranny" Nice title.
