hutru01 Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 So as I have explained in some other threads, one of my rota tarmac 3s is flaking badly. I am going try my hardest to get a free replacement from Rota, but just by playing devil's advocate, they probably won't because I am the third owner of these rims/car. Anyhow, instead of just buying a new rim, I was thinking about having them professionally sandblasted and painted glossy black. I recently got a hookup to a paint shop down here in Roanoke. Open for discussion......
Spec B Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 I would just buy a single replacement for the flaky rim. It is probably cheaper to buy one new rim then to have them painted and if you bend a rim in the future you could always use your flaky rim or buy a new one that will match perfectly.
hutru01 Posted May 13, 2008 Author Posted May 13, 2008 I guess I was thinking if I had these rims painted, that I would never bend them. LOL
mr_luv Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 Just buy back up and use the flaky rim as full size spare. Mr.350
hutru01 Posted May 13, 2008 Author Posted May 13, 2008 word, thats what I am going to do.....I am praying rota will just send me a new one. going to take a picture of the flaky rim for you guys...
hutru01 Posted May 13, 2008 Author Posted May 13, 2008 The rims are about a year old. They are gun metallic. But the paint on the one rim is flaking everywhere now. Pics to come.
Spec B Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 ^^ old pics here. http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=66026
hutru01 Posted May 13, 2008 Author Posted May 13, 2008 ^ Thank you. That saves me the time of taking the pics.....I contacted subydude, he said to take contact rota.
hutru01 Posted May 13, 2008 Author Posted May 13, 2008 Rota's Website PHILIPPINE ALUMINUM WHEELS, INC. Severina Diamond Industrial Complex Km. 16 South Superhighway, Paranaque, Metro Manila, Philippines Phone: (+632) 823.2546 to 48 Fax: (+632) 823.6357 North American Distributor: Cosmic Marketing Corp. 28301 Industrial Blvd Suite V, Hayward, CA 94545 Phone: 510-786-1726 Fax: 510-786-2007 E-mail: kimcosmic@juno.com I will be contacting both. It looks much worse than this now.
hutru01 Posted May 13, 2008 Author Posted May 13, 2008 sent an email with both pictures from that previous thread....I will be following up in a couple days if I don't hear anything. I am going to raise enough hell to get another rim. Just gonna keep calling and annoying the hell out of them.
hutru01 Posted May 13, 2008 Author Posted May 13, 2008 also sent a PM and email to subydude....asking for direct contact with the right person at Rota
hutru01 Posted May 13, 2008 Author Posted May 13, 2008 Update: I called the North American Distributor of Rota Wheels today and spoke with a guy name Kim. He requested that I send him an email with pictures of all four rims, where and when the rims were bought, and my name, address, and telephone number. Therefore, I have sent him an email with everything he requested. I also called subydude to see if I could track the purchase back in 2006. I gave subydude as much information as I knew. (bought in FL, rim info, etc.) If you guys know how to get in touch with wukindada, can you PM me please? I want to get more information on the source of the original purchase from subydude....just in case. Thanks and wish me luck on getting this rim replaced.
hutru01 Posted May 14, 2008 Author Posted May 14, 2008 Sooooo, Rota has no problem replacing my rim with their warranty policy, but they don't have any in stock at the moment. (According to Kim at Rota)
Spec B Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 ^ Fo free?! NICE! Ask them to send you any color and then move forward with your painting all 5 wheels black.
hutru01 Posted May 14, 2008 Author Posted May 14, 2008 ^ Contemplating....I think glossy black would look hawt.
hutru01 Posted May 14, 2008 Author Posted May 14, 2008 talked to Kim at Rota this afternoon....he said I will have to wait until the next shipment arrives in a couple of weeks and they are going to ship me a new rim. I suppose good things come to those who wait.
hutru01 Posted May 16, 2008 Author Posted May 16, 2008 I got an email last night from Kim at Rota. He said they will have the rim in stock next week. I am assuming they will just ship it out to me. This was a lot easier than I thought it was going to be. ::holds breath:: +1 for Rota having good customer service.
