06jax2.5se
I want to steam clean my carpet and can not figure out how to get the stinkin' trunk and gas tank levers off the metal pull up latches. I need to get these off so that i can take the plastic surround off to fully steam clean the carpet. I have done a search with nothing but leave it to some uber guru to find it in like 2.3 seconds. any help would be greatly appreciated!
subarupartsdude
I'll do my best and try to explain it to you.The back half of the latch cover comes off.I wanna say it slides backwards, then there is one screw or bolt and a nut.

subarupartsdude
We had a used car that came in with that piece missing. I have not taken mine out yet......but i looked at the computer and it showed a little trim on the back half section.
06jax2.5se
for anyone that would like to know and wants to take the trunk/gas tank latch and cover off this is how you do it. -The piece that goes around the key lock pops up and folds back. -Then with a little muscle grab the plastic latch handles and pull them straight forward off. -Then you can take the rest of the surround off. Now that i got that stinking thing off i can steam clean my carpet and seats!!!!
apexi
I'm going to bump this thread that's almost 8 years old to add a couple pictures. The nut you have to remove is pretty obvious, as shown in the first attached image. There is also a bolt you have to remove which is kind of hidden, as you can see in the second attached image. The latch assembly also hooks into the side/floor of the car, as you can see on the right side of the second attached image.
