CTATV
Was curious who would have the upper hand my stock 06 spec.b (5 speed) vs, my buddy's manual tranny 06 BMW 330i
Penguin
From a hard dig you would have the advantage to 60mph, from a roll or from highway speeds he will slowly start to walk away from you at 65mph or so. As speed increases his lead will grow steadily.
CTATV
ill keep that in mind... in a few months going stg 1 via AP and then soon after gutting DP and getting STI UP and moving up to stg 2 so then I should have his ass eh?
JoeFromPA
Yes, Stage 2 and up you should have him I'd wager he'd beat you from a both a standstill and from a roll right now. Your car is harder to launch than his (IMO) and that car really comes alive once it's at speed and the rpms are up. Joe

I would think so, with the mods you are planning on. The E90 330i is a great car though, and the high output 3.0L Inline six is a real sweetheart. It may not have a huge amount of mod potential but in stock form it is a far more flexible, smooth, and fuel efficient motor than a stock Subaru 2.5L with turbo charging. Dazma
You will win!! Had this exact race with my brother in laws 06 330 up to 120 and had him the whole way.
JoeFromPA
Dazma - Was the 330 an automatic? Was it an 06 330 coupe (which used the old 3.0 liter motor putting out between 225-235 hp)? Joe

camber
My stock spec. B rapes my good friends 330i coupe(which has the performance package) on a regular basis. As long as your good at shifting you won't have much of a problem.
ehsnils
And also consider that as soon as the roads are going from perfect conditions to wet or worse in combination with a few turns... The BMW will have a bit more problems to make the acceleration stick...

VTlgt
+1 for depends on the driver.
wrxvt
virtual tie... depends on driver. if you launch right, he won't be able to catch up with you unless you both plan on keeping your right foot planted racing over a few miles. the rwd bimmers are just as heavy as the awd lgt, and they make about the same hp as the lgt... give or take. http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/hot_lists/car_shopping/entry_luxury/2006_bmw_330i_road_test this review of an 06 330i shows a trap speed of 98mph in the 1/4 mile... implying about the same power and quickness as an lgt, even if you take the launch factor away.
