vader1
Can someone answer a couple Cobb AP questions for me? I have an 07, and am looking to buy an AP. Looking at cobb's website for V@'s, they have a different part number for the V2 ap for 07 and 08 than they do 2005/06. So if I bought a local persons V2 ap for thre 2005/06 will it not work on the 07 or is there some software from cobb that would make it compatible? Secondly, can a stage 2 map be run on a stock car or do I need a downpipe? I thought that 07's had a catless DP, or was it the UP? And if the 07 DP has a cat then I can use an STi DP to look stock when I go to the dealer but it is gutted, correct? Thanks in advance.
JSurretsky
I am not an expert but, I can give you my 2 cents. For an 07/08, you need the latest AP version - it cannot be the one compatible with an 05 due to the newest CAN bus architecture on the 07/08 models. On an 07, you need at least a DP to go to stage 2. That is the extent of my knowledge and I'm sure there are many that can fill in the details for you. Long Island Legacy
Most people will tell you that you cant run stg 2 on a stock car. This prob is the best bet until you get a dp but if you wnat to try it for a day your car will be fine. My buddy ran stg 2 on a stock sti for a day or so. not the best increase in power but the car is still alive.
collegemt
My 2 cents: I wouldn't run stage 2 until you had a DP. Like "long island legacy" said it probably won't cause any harm for a day or 2 but what if it did. Then you are screwed.

The '07 Legacy GT has a catless uppipe. The STi downpipe is not catless. If you want to go stage 2 without buying an aftermarket downpipe, you'll have to gut out the stocker. Zed 2.0
You need a 07-08 specific access port. Subaru changed the way the ECU communicates, so the older accessports won't work. Also, do yourself a favor and don't listen to anybody who tells you it won't hurt to run Stage 2 on a stock car.
vader1
thanks for the input. I don't think I can gut my stock DP if that is the last remaining cat. I don't believe in going catless just becuase of the smell and being a bunny hugger, but I have not crawled around underneath to see if there is another one. My MR2 had two cats so perhaps there is another main cat somewhere besides the DP?
