Are you talking about going from stage 1 to 2 or are you taking just about the maps. Either way, Yes

what's the hp difference between tdc stage 1 and a regular cobb stage 2 without tdc maps. I want to know if the difference is worth going to the trouble of installing a dp. I believe here in vegas we smog yearly. I'm assuming the dp install is a real bioznitch

i have an autospeed. however, i believe they no longer manufacture them if i recall correctly. it was the cheapest...but all other brands are..no wait...that depends if you are going catless or catted...catted would cost more

You can get a you can get a sti or '07 LGT/WRX/sti or a gutted uppipe. They look stock and are cattless. After markets are aslo go because it can't be seeen anyway. I would recommend getting the up because it will help you spool faster and even though it's rare some people have had the cat in there up come apart and damage their turbo. You can go with a shorty dp and keep your third catt and the rest of your sock exhaust. So it won't be any louder. As for the power at stage 2 you get about 10 - 20 hp but, t comes on sooner and it's smoother and I gained about 3-4 mpg when I went stage 2. I get about 27 mpg going 75 mph w/CC on.

+1 to getting an uppipe.

i have an Sti uppipe lying around that is 100% identical on the outside to the one you already have but does not run the risk of cat failure. (cat failure is pieces of cat crumbling into your turbo)

the newer LGTS dont have cats there and y ou have to wonder why...

I am TDC stage 1, 93 oct and the peak target boost settings are 16 psi peak tapering to 11-12, where as cobb's reg stage 1 map for this is 15psi peak tapering to 13. Cobb stage 2 map for the same is 16.5 psi peak tapering to 13 psi and TDC stage 2 is 17.5 peak tapering to 11-12.

For stage 2 on an 05 you should replace the uppipe with a non catted version so the cat does not break up and fry your turbo. Grimmspeed makes a nice coated one. A catted downpipe like Cobb or a shorty like Crucial's coated one if your going to keep your oem third cat. While your at it you should also replace your TMIC with an AVO or perrin as the seams tend to blow apart with higher boost settings.

Will the upipe have to be replaced with stock up along with the dp to pass smog? or just the dp.

You probably won't have to change any of it to pass the smog test, especially if you get a catted DP. I've seen lots of people on here who said they passed the smog test with their stage 2 setups. (We don't have smog testing where I live, so I can't give any first-hand experience there.)
