How hard is this piece to replace? Both of my mirror repeaters have small cracks in the clear lens and have moisture in them that does not dry out. I have yet to see if it will be covered under warranty - the cracks were there when the car was new and now I wish I would have said something at the time. Do they just snap in and out or does the mirror have to come off and apart? Thanks.
It is still ugly.

Acutally, It was quite easy. I got the install procedures from the dealier so I was able to do it. I will try and scan them and post them. But here is How:

1) remove the glass:

a) The glass is held in by 2 clips and 2 hooks.

b) tilt the glass up as far as it will go and look underneith. You will see a white back plate and the clips from the glass hook to that.

c) spray the clips with some wd-40 and using a flat blade screw driver, CARFULLY pry the clips loose.

d) once both clips are undone, tilt the glass upward and that will release the hooks

e) unhook the cables for the heater

2) remove the "Skull cap" aka the painted part

a) there are 3 clips holding it down that reside behind the glass. 2 on top and one on the outer part of the housing.

b) release the top 2 while pulling out on the skull cap

c) release the 3rd one after you got the skull cap out so that the other clips won't re-engage

d) the skull cap will now remove quite easily

3) remove the turn signal

a) there are a total of 3 screws. 1 behind the mirror and 2 in front of the mirror.

b) after removing the screws the light comes right off easily

4) install the new blinker and work backwards.

Ben- Thanks for the detailed instructions (I have the service manual on CD-ROM but haven't really looked yet - usually the manual isn't real specific about how to remove clip-on parts). I am still hoping the dealer will cover it under warranty.

I would say that it took me all of 30min to do on mine and that is with out pre-reading the instructions.
