Navi Mod Question

Searching obviously owns me. I didn't know if there was anyone out there that knows how to disable the feature on the navigation that only allows you to use it when you are not moving. Can someone please post a link if they know of one. Thanks :)

But hey you posted in a pretty colour.

Just a search for Navi in this forum should have netted you enough results that just by looking at the title you would know their potential.

With this thread firstnew.gif Another OEM NAVI Features Hack Thread - Progress and Documents on this very first page...really...you should just be posting some pictures of you and the car.

Thanks for asking this, SubieChik, even though you've taken a little heat (especially in another thread) for asking. The several links in this thread provide a sort of table of contents for the topic -- and it uncovered something I hadn't seen, the full manual for the Kenwood nav system. It's a pdf and therefore downloadable.

And it shows that it should be possible to create a very clean, permanent bypass of this annoying "feature" (safety, yes; functionality, no) by jumping the pin in question (the parking brake pin that isn't used) to the ground pin on the connector. No separate wire to ground needed.

I think, though, I'm not going to do this, but rather use the separate wire-to-ground method, in order to make easier to revert to stock. This is one of those safety things that it's better to have stock when you sell the car eventually.

It'll be interesting to see if it works on both of my cars. HPH
