LGT with NAV - can't synch nav clock with guage cluster clock

I have an 07 LGT with the nav system. I am having difficulty in getting the clock in my gauge cluster to read 12 hour time, it reads 24hr (military) time.

 

I can get into the clock set application in the nav system, and when I set a new time it will change the clock in the guage cluster. But when I set it for either 12 or 24 hour mode, the other clock won't change.

 

What I am doing wrong?

The manual says to use the nav system for setting both clocks. I tried to use the stick, but it only presses to change modes and does not twist like on older subarus. I read somewhere that if you press in the stick within 30 seconds of starting the car that it would go into a "set mode," but that isn't the case either.

I tried and couldn't get it to work even after setting it.. It always went to military time after 12:00

The dash clock will only display military time. There is no way to change this.

Not that I know of. But you can display both the time and the outside temp on the navi screen. There is a 'trip meter hacking thread' but i don't think anything solid has been done yet:
