So Subaru is going to offer the trade in your older Subaru and receive $500 over KBB as well as $500 Subaru bucks which is great...

BUT what about those leasing...does Subaru offer an owner loyalty program for those turning in a leased Subaru for another?

Mine isn't up till 2010 so just wandering...

I didn't get that letter. I didn't buy new because they cancelled what I have.

As long as that hasn't changed, they are going to have a real hard time getting me out of my Legacy GT.

Did you get the letters from SOA or a dealer?

I got it from a local dealer.... it says "my vehicle is in high demand blah blah".

I got it from SOA. It didn't specifically say $500 over KBB in my letter - just gave me a minimum trade-in amount that was "guaranteed".

It just means they'll try to get a sale price of $500 (or $1000) more than buying without the deal.

I enjoyed the "Vehicle Condition Criteria" that determines whether the amount was guaranteed...these ones especially...

- The vehicle has not been materially altered from its original construction, including but not limited to, modified suspension, modified exhaust system, modified turbo, or engine components.

and the ever-present cya addition...

- Any other condition that in the opinion of Subaru of America, Inc. significantly reduces the vehicle's value.

If I was ready to upgrade, I'd probably consider seeing what kind of deal I could work out. But if you're not ready - it is not in your best interest.

Everyone is born right-handed, only the best overcome it.

Materially altered from it's original construction - check

Modified suspension - check

Modified exhaust system - check, and much better for it.

modified turbo - not really, but missing heat shield

modified engine components - check, if you count a stage 2 tune.

significantly reduced vehicle value... doubtful. Harder for a "dealer" to sell, maybe, or maybe not.

Worth more to me than the resale value money. BIG FRIGGIN' CHECK!

the insert i got from SOA says "Leased vehicles are excluded from this offer." maybe they'll have a different offer for those who leased? eh, who knows. this isn't worth it for me anyway. wouldn't trade my car in for anything in subaru's line-up right now anyway. not missing out on anything.

^agreed

One would think they'd have the largest opportunity to turn lease turn in's because you have to return it to the dealership...seems like pretty simple marketing effort?

That depends more on the dealer than on your car... Just find the right dealer, which means that if you find a dealer that is interested in performance cars the modifications shouldn't be a problem.

But if you see a dealer that is mainly selling Toyota Corollas, VW Polos (Polios :p ) or other mass-volume models you can't expect to get much for your additions.

Maybe this thread is what Subaru means by "love" in their new ad campaign

I got letters on for my 2004 WRX wagon and another for 2005 Legacy GT Wagon.

Trade in value of 2004 WRX wagon with up to 60k ($12500)

Trade in value of 2005 Legacy GT wagon 5mt with up to 45k ($13500)

Interesting depreciation curves. I wonder if they will intersect soon.

So $2500/year depreciation for my WRX and $3333/year for Legacy GT.

I was offered 16,600 +500 Cash in a letter received Sat from SOA for my 2005 LGT Limited 5EAT, with the above provisions, and as long as my LGT was under 45k miles.

I was actually considering doing it and leasing a WRX under their current promotion for $1034 at lease signing, 24mo at $229/mo, just to save on a monthly payment.

Go Cardinals!

I'll guess the annual mileage on the lease is, maybe 10 K?

I can't recall the manufacturer but somebody around here offered a great teaser lease with an 8 K annual mileage cap.

I got that letter today too. Subaru can suck my nuts.

Subaru can suck deez nutz too.

Everyone who got this letter should write down that we all want 300hp H6 Legacy STis (wagons and sedans) and send them back to SOA

When I hit the lottery I'll probably contract Perrin to manufacture a cutomized fleet of 'em. we can only dream.

When I hit the lottery I'll buy Perrin and manufacture a cutomized fleet of 'em. I don't think I can afford to buy FHI, so sorry. we can only dream.
