07 Spec B for 26k? Good?Bad? ..Other Questions

Hi everyone,

Went to look @ 08 Spec B's and STI's. I could not test drive new STI's. Anyway, I came across a 07 Spec B with 8500 miles for 26k w/out a spoiler! First non-spoiler Spec B I've ever seen and the price seems decent.

I was told the car was bought from corporate Subaru in NJ. They speculated a manager or exec drove the car, so I would not be able to contact them. So, I'm a little skeptical about how the car was treated. Any thoughts?

The paint looked good. Windshield had a few pock marks visible in the sun light. Interior looked pretty good, but the guy or gal must have had a dog in the rear as there were dirt marks on the headliner. Also, the AC smelled and brake sounds were noticeable.

What do you guys and gals think?

Thanks!!

Who was the dealer? I bought my car under the exact same conditions. 6000 miles belonged to Subie rep. Whatever the problems now, you are under warranty. My 07 was put into service in March of 06. I will use up the 36 mos before the 36000 miles. Will probably get an extended warranty before that time. I think the price is quite decent.

Can't comment on the marks or smell but...

If I knew then what I know now I'd have looked harder for an 07 over the 08!

It has everything the 08 has and you have many more exterior mod options than I do.

Really? Can you elaborate on this since I'm looking at maybe getting an 07 or 08. I thought he 08s got additional things like a telescoping steering wheel with more buttons than the 07s.

Thats a low price for a Spec B with that low of miles. Get a carfax for sure. It could have been wrecked and repaired.....

I think he means, grills, lips etc. There's not much out that fits the 08 yet.

Ah. I guess it won't matter to me then since I'd leave that stuff alone.

I got an 07 Spec with 12K from California for 26 even. It had HID's and Tien H techs.

Bet you bought it privately.

Let the AC run for a while, I'll bet the smell goes away.

Use the brakes, I'll bet the sound goes away.

Classic symptoms that the car has been sitting for a while.

Or not.

I've bought 2 Subaru "executive" demos. Both at great prices and both in very good shape - < 5 K miles for each.

Neither was a Spec B nor GT which, might have been pushed a bit more.

Both cars were from separate MA dealers. I agree, good price on each and the balance of the 36 K bumper to bumper.

But, there is the potential for abuse so, cavet emptor.

I bought my Spec B under similar circumstances, though not from a MA dealer. I do have reason to believe that my car was not treated very gently. A drawback to this type of purchase is that the vehicle have manu. plates when they belong to Subaru personnel or are not really registered at all. A Carfax may be of limited value in such a case.
