Rolling fenders

So I just got a new set of rims on my 05 LGT... 235/40-R18. They are BIIIIG....aesthetically, too big (for my taste), but they seem to ride well. Ride well, that is, until I turn left over a bump. I've got serious rubbing on my rear passenger side, and slight rubbing on the drivers rear. I've got 3 options as I see it-

Upgrade my stock front and rear sway bars, and hope the reduced body roll will avoid the contact with the fenders

Have the rear fenders rolled

Do both.

Obviously both would be the best, however cost is an object. Has anyone had their fenders rolled? It seems like it would be extremely easy for a body shop to do- what kind of price would I be looking at? Also, can the fenders be rolled without the paint being destroyed? I considered taking care of it myself with a rubber mallet, but I don't need to screw it up and waste a fender. I don't want to get ripped off. (Any of you actually work at a body shop?)

I don't know which option I should do first. I don't want to waste money on sways if they don't immediately take care of the problem (which is likely a longshot)- but the fender rolling is not really reversible come resale time.

I also posted in another forum that I'm looking for a bargain on sway bars if anyone knows where I can find a 25mm set (or at least a rear). Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks!

dude, you can roll your fenders yourself. some kind of round rubber gripped handle and roll it along pushing up as you go. like at an angle. sheet metal is very thin and bends easily. maybe do a little at a time to avoid stressing the paint to avoid cracks.

or you can bring to a shop and pay 50 a fender. what size are the wheels? offset?

Any walkthrough or instructions on how to roll the fenders? I searched and couldn't find anything...

I would highly reccomend against it, have someone who knows what they are doing do it for you.

Xenonk did something with some pictures showing him rolling fenders but I don't know where that post is...

You can rent a proper fender roller and do it yourself. I was quoted $50 up here in Canada so it should be cheaper in the US. I'm looking into this as my 235-40-18 Pirelli Corsas on 8.5" wide 49 offset wheels are being gouged by the fender whenever i go over bumps.

I'm on H-Techs too but am switching over to basics this weekend.

Got mine rolled and one side is fine other side is jack up cracking paint. Make sure they heat the paint that they are rolling cheap ass paint on our cars that what happens when it's built in the great U.S.A.

As it turns out, the rolling didn't completely solve my problem. Theres no rubbing if I'm driving alone or with another front seat passenger. If I've got rear seat passengers I still rub over bumps. Its extremely frustating, and truthfully embarassing too. ("oh..yeah...sorry about that scary noise...its just my tires rubbing on my fender....") Should've gone with a smaller wheel/tire combo. The only bright side is that Connecticut is covered in potholes, and this is the first set of wheels I've had that let me drive normally, and not have to bob-and-weave on my daily commute.

stock suspension. and with the current rubbing, no chance of lowering. Possibly stiffer shocks, but not something I want to spend $ on right now.

Yea that is what I did I got Koni yellows and tein H tech spring I have 245/35 18's on my car they rub but only on really bad dips in the road.

I think its the offset thats killing you. i'm running 235/40 eagle f1s on 18x8 ultraleggera with a 1-1.25" drop and all i had to do was remove the rubber strips protecting the fenders and problem solved. THEY JUST FIT. I MEAN JUST. the +48 offset helped. I dont know what your options are if rolling the fenders didnt work. sorry man.

running jdm bilsteins which def allow for a larger tire since the spring perches are higher and if i remember right the shock itself was slightly longer.

IMO KW v2>rims, but i like the wide look!

I'm running 215/45R18 tires with no rubbing on Tein S-Techs (overall tire diameter : 25.6 inches).

I plan on running 225/40R18 (overall tire diameter : 25.1 inches).

I'm adding some Bilsteins + a rear spring pad, which will likely push the rear suspension up a little, because as of now, the rear tire gets tucked completely in the rear fender under acceleration, and lateral clearance is minimal.

I hope I don't rub...

Is there a visual difference with rolled fenders? Anyone have pics before and after?

Depends. I had mine rolled and pulled so there is a visual difference. This was on my miata, but I will be taking my LGT to him soon. Sorry, no pics.

Can you just get some lateral links and dial in a little bit of camber or something?

Lateral Links will definitely help.

Anyone want to rent or sell their fender roller? Cant justify spending 260 on a tool that I will use once.

This is the combo I'm thinking about getting. How is the ride comfort level?
