Rust Spot!!!!!!!!

I was cleaning the car the other day and I saw a rust spot

 

It is on the metal piece next to the windshield that connects to the roof.

 

Any ideas?

That's the "a-pillar" and it looks like something got in between the corner of the hood and when opened, it took out a nick of paint. I have one from a rock further up the pillar that needs to be fixed, but I want it done professionally, so they get all the rust out.

Has that area been dented or dinged in any way to allow the paint to peel off?

 

Yes. It looks likes maybe a rock got pushed into it.

I can't tell for the life of me what part of the car that is

 

right side of the back, next to the rear windshield. I guess it is the exterior C-Pillar

Looks like its just surface rust. All you need to do to get it off is a Scotch Bright pad and some elbow grease. Once you see clean metal, spray some primer from a spray can into the lid and brush onto the spot. Then just use touch-up paint to cover the primer.

What kind of primer?

Pretty much any metal primer will work, Rustoleum, even on down to your store brand metal primer. They all do the same thing and that is help stick the paint to the metal under it.
