rap4th
Hello all!! I don't post too much but I do read the forums everyday. I felt that I should re-introduce myself and just mention how much I like my car: 2005 Legacy GT Limited. My prior car was a 2002 WRX which I really enjoyed. While visiting the dealership one day, talking to my salesperson, they had just received the 05 models. Right there in the showroom was a Legacy GT Limited in Atlantic Blue. I instantly fell in love with the car. The car pulled me over to have a look...next thing I know I hear my salesperson say, "ah...looking at trading in the WRX for the Legacy". I replied with, "my wife would kill me...I only had the WRX for 3 years!". Next thing I know, 2 weeks later, my salesperson called me at home telling me that she had a ABP Legacy GT Limited in with the options that I wanted. I told her that I would consult the wife and call her back. To my surprise, my wife said ok provided that the numbers work out and we don't pay more per month for the car. So we go to the dealership and a couple of hours later...I am driving home in my Legacy GT!! I really do miss the WRX...it was a great car. I miss the low rumble at idle and how mean it looked. However, I quickly dismiss that with knowing how nice the Legacy looks....and how much of a sleeper it is. Yeah, it does not sound as good, but it does have a nice sound to it once the revs get up there. I keep going back on forth on modding the car so I can get that nice rumble sound...but then I say to myself "do I really need to?"...and the answer is always "no". The Legacy GT right from the factory is fine just the way it is. It always makes me chuckle seeing all these riced out cars...all that work they have to go through to mod their car when mine comes stock with all the power and grip you need to have good spirited fun! I have not modded my car at all basically because of 2 main reasons: 1)don't "have" to and 2) $$. I just replaced the RE-92's after going 57K on them with Falken Ziex ZE-512's (yes I know...I will hear a lot of people ask me why I didn't replace them sooner). The reason why I didn't replace them sooner (and this was true for the WRX when I had her) was because they were good enough to get me from point A to point B and I was still able to have some fun spirited driving with no issues. Another reason was because of $$ again. Having 2 kids will do that to you. However, I think I will get the AVO drop-in panel air filter...seems like a good cheap upgrade and I have heard nothing but good reviews of it. I do like the new WRX STi....it grew on me but I don't think I will be getting rid of my LGT anytime soon. It is a great looking car, I am able to fit 2 car seats for my kids in the back seats, put a stroller in the trunk and still have all the fun of a WRX (fitting the car seat in the WRX and the stroller in the trunk barely fit). Well, thank you all for allowing me to just put my 2 cents in on the Legacy GT, I hope you enjoyed the read. If anyone would like to tell their story of their Legacy and how they got it, that would be great! Take care, Rob

eljay
mine is somewhat similar; bought my LGT on impulse . . . loved its appearance and indulged my lifelong desire for a turbo. i kept my '95 altima for 2 years (!) following the purchase to keep the commute miles off the LGT. after a lifetime of driving econobox cars, the bone-stock performance of my Leggy is a major thrill, still. stay stock, stay happy, i once read! i'm way out of my depth . . . lvethesnow
i wanted a turbocharged car.ive got plenty experiance with fast cars but no turbocharged ones. so i was looking at srt4, wrx and the sti. srt4 went out cause of the FWD. then i test drove the wrx it was a nice chage from my durango but a little to stiff for my tatse. so i test drove the lgt limited . like the power and the comfort. so i bought it. been 2 years now 67000 miles. new right front bearing at 65000 miles. i love this car. leggtnut
have a simular story, but mine wasn't on impulse. I had a lemon of a Baja and SOA made me a deal I couldn't refuse. So got my LGT 2 years 40k ago and never regreted it sence. Oh, do a search for Hawgzast, it will get you that rubmle you miss. CMull123
^^^^^^^ If you want a little rumble and money is an issue, definitely look into hogzaust, hawgzast, however we're spellin it nowadays. Also, not to tell you guys to spend money, but get an AccessPort. I'm sure anyone on here who has one can vouch for how much worth it they were. collegemt
My Story: My wife was driving a 2000 nissan altima, I thought she needed s a AWD car for winter here in colorado. I was searching and saw a great deal on a 07 legacy 2.5i and we bought it. after a few months of owning the car I thought i should look into some performance mods since i drive the car as well. I then realized that there is no mod potential in the 2.5i. This is when i discovered this site. I then convinced my wife to let me trade her car in on a 08 LGT (12-8-07). What a great decision. Since then i have went stage 2 with the 08 LGT and we are loving it. Mods so far: Perrin 2 piece catted D/P Custom CBE with magnaflow mufflers AEM CAI APV2 with custom TDC tune Konig feathers 17x7.5 tinted windows DIY grill The legacy gt is a great car and this site is a wonderful resource. However there is a problem, i can't stop thinking about what i want to do next, i have a long list. I drive a 06 Ford F150 crew cab, not much potential in modding besides cosmetics, which i have allready done (lift wheels and tires, etc). So the LGT is like my new hobby. It is so much fun. JoeFromPA
I won't get too far into my story (I'm about to go out on a beautiful saturday morning and wash/detail the car for the first time...I'm not a big believer in internet rumors, but I've heard from a few smart people that it's not good to wax the car right away. So just a wash and synthetic polish for me right now, that'll provide enough protection.) See, already getting off topic. I drove an LGT back in 05. Absolutely loved it. Glorious car. My, literal, only complaint was the the door grab handles got in my way of operating the window controls. That was the only thing I didn't like about the car. In 07, my wife and I began a search to replace her 03 Saturn Ion. She test drove the LGT (because it now had fold down rear seats, a must for her). She loved the way it drove, the options, the power. She had a grin on her face, which is what I wanted. We picked ours up 2 weeks ago today. Satin white pearl. Got it tinted (which I really believe is a must, at least on white). Fantastic. But the best thing of all is: My wife and I have had many, many discussions about cars. I'm a car nut. She's not. We've had arguments, and I've cooled it (a little, at least with talking about cars all the time). But, more importantly, she's become a car aficianado. She points out Porsches to me. She can see a car from far off and name it, and even get it within the right 5 year span most of the time. She takes pride in her growing knowledge of cars. But what really brings a tear to my eye is that she called me at work yesterday. I was busy, so I didn't pick up. She left a voicemail saying: "I'm calling because I think it's time to order a short shifter and a shift knob." We're gonna make it. She's already getting hooked on the idea of sway bars. Ok, gonna go wash and polish the car, aerospace protectant 303 the interior, and Zaino the leather Joe

Yes, Hogzaust is your answer to the "no rumble" problem. It's also the answer to your "no $$" problem, as it costs less than $1. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35764 http://media.putfile.com/Driving-70 I'm pleasantly surprised... It was most certainly worth the couple bucks and 10 mins of my time. CLICK HERE FOR THE HOGZAUST

collegemt
Collegemt, love those wheels. Thanks, i like them too. I think 18's would look better, but with the roads here in colorado and the extra price i couldn't justify 18's. I think once i lower it about a inch it will look even better. rap4th
Great hearing from everyone!! I am ordering the AVO drop-in air filter today. And I am really interested in performing the "Howgzaust" mod. From the replies of everyone...it seems like stage 2 is darn loud. So I think I will try stage 1 (remember....I am running everything stock). I am hoping that will give me the low rumble (growl) without being obnoxious. Getting back on topic...anyone else want to share their story on how they got their Legacy? Rob
Neurodancer
My Story: ... yada yada yada ... I then convinced my wife to let me trade her car in on a 08 LGT (12-8-07). What a great decision. There is no such "convincing" of my better half, so I have wait for a decent expense of bonus check to be able to do anything to my car and I cannot even think about anything cosmetic or she'd notice right away! Of course my wife now thinks Subie reliability is for sh!t as my car has been "in the shop" several times for "warranty work!"
