TambourineMan Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 What is the best in-dash bluetooth unit for a 2008 Outback that has Nav? This is for my wife's Outback and she hates add-on externally mounted devices. Can just the radio be replaced with a Bluetooth capable one (hopefully the CD unit does not need to be replaced)? Is there some other in-dash/behind the dash solution (or one in which the Bleutooth control unit is not needed except for setup and could be left in the glove box)?
tdoggydog Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Heh - I've been researching this for months. I don't like the external add-on devices either. You can go really high end with a company on here and have them fully modify your radio bezel to be a single or double din. It sounds as though doube din navi replacements won't fit in the current location due to space. If you find anything else, let me know!
TambourineMan Posted April 1, 2008 Author Posted April 1, 2008 I gather what you are saying is that I would have to replace the entire Navi system? That ain't happening. But if that is not what you are saying, then can you let me know who is the "company on here?" Do you have a link to them?
tdoggydog Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 Checkout Highline, it's an audio company that posts frequently in the audio thread category, discussing their HVAC/radio mods to get you what you want. In my mind though, I don't want 2 screens on the dash. I also thought about the single din, but then part of having Bluetooth is being able to press the numbers on the screen - you can't do that with a single din. So, I think I may just tough it out and see if some other product comes out that may fit better somewhere on the dash. I'm trying to figure out if I get a 2nd ashtray, that I can play around with modifying that to see if the Telephony unit fits in it (it's quite small). But we'll see...
