Hi, looking for a fix for my unsightly JDM dash that the previous owner didn't mind ruining. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Upholstery repair kit. Comes with several colors to mix and different sheets of "pattern" paper that you stick over the repair to match whatever the pattern is on the dash.

About $8 in most auto parts stores.

Anyone have link for the hook method

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk

Ebay Plate Bracket, few screws, paint, and done. Moved over now so the tow hook cover can come off but you get the idea. Much cheaper that the Grimmspeed option. Filled the holes with grommet plugs from hardware store.

For sedans, the cargo nets for the sides of the trunk are a cheap mod. Subaru part number is F551SAG700, which is a kit with two nets, mounting hardware, and instructions. A trim removal tool is helpful, but you could probably just use a flathead screwdriver. The trim plugs things get removed and replaced by the mounting hardware, so you don't have to worry about mangling the trim plugs...just the trim itself.

Quick install, lots of bonus functionality, only costs $20-25. The left net holds a pair of steel toe boots and a quart of oil, and I have my hardhat tucked behind it.

About how much do they cost for the set, bro?

I paid $23.75 + shipping from subarugenuineparts.com, but that was when I was new here, and didn't know any of the forum vendors.

Try hitting up Fredbeansparts, they're a Vendor, which means they pay money to support the site. Send them that part number and ask for a price.

Nice, thanks a ton!

I think I can contribute to this thread! I've tried and done a lot of things. Some of them are already gone, but here goes:

Wrap chrome grille 'bars'. Remove grille > remove bars by unscrewing them > spend some quality time at your kitchen table. I used black 3M di-noc, but you could use silver carbon look, aluminum, heck, even gold.

Wrap interior parts:

Wrap strip above licence plate:

Plasti-dip weathered bumper protection plate. (Don't have better words, I'm Dutch.)

Cut your expensive aftermarket HID bulb ;) for better light image on the road.

Before mod: (check out dark spot on the left and overall light)

Mod itself:

(Red dot = 'rod' that runs next to bulp, again lost in translation.)

Exhaust too loud for you or you won't get wife approval? Fit silencers and 'Paint it Black'.

(Invidia QS 300 with Ulter Sport NX70D tips. They fit perfectly. Silencers from eBay; 60 mm meant for motorcycles. Google 'em!)

For those who are interested.

Questions? Feel free to ask. :)

Added some explanation on the HID mod and removed a typo.

Thanks for posting these with pics.

You basically rotate the bulb? You cut the lip of the bulb, so, it would fit the housing? Did you do both side or just driver side?

Indeed you simply rotate the bulb with the 'rod' facing downwards. (No interference with the light coming from the top and the sides of the bulb, which is projected downwards and sideways.)

I used a good pair of pincers to cut the bulb base. I fits very well; it can't rotate.

I did both sides.

Does this trick only work with HID's, and does it screw up the light cutoff like it looks like it would?
