OEM wagon cargo tray fit in sedan trunk?

Recommended Posts

I've got an 06' LGT sedan and I reluctantly use it to haul the trash off on my way to work. Even though we have a strict policy of NO LIQUIDS IN THE TRASH, something leaked out yesterday onto the trunk carpet. Anybody try putting a Subaru OEM wagon cargo tray in the trunk of a sedan? I couldn't have cared less when it leaked in my 96' Legacy, but not this one!

Here's the cargo tray (potting soil, plant, and garden accessories are not included)

Why not visit your local dealership and ask to see if they have one that you can test fit?

If it fits let us know, I need some protection back there as well!

Order the sedan tray from Japanparts and be done with it;)

Thanks!

Didn't know it existed. I've emailed them looking for the correct part number to order. I'm confused with all the parts for models from different countries.

Actually, the Subaru Forester Trunk liner is an almost exact fit for the legacy trunk. I'm using it on my 08 Legacy Sedan, works like a charm, to anyone that sees it, it looks like a custom fit :)

You can only see a difference in the deepest part of the trunk as there is about 1 1/2 shortage, as the mat doesn't go as far deep on the Legacy. But you will never even notice or see that.

You can even choose from a few different colours too, I got Tan to match my interior. Cheers

Is your trunk tan? I have an '05 with the Taupe interior, and the trunk has grey/black carpet & trim. Wondering if it's different for the 08's.

My rear carpet is actually the same as yours zmarko, grey/black carpet trim. My liner just matches my interior of the car with the Taupe Leather, and matching Husky Liners for the inside of my car.

Canadians winters are harsh!

Sorry, yes, it's the 08 Forrester, as the 09's switch to a new style.

Thanks, Superman!

After a little research...

This is the 06' Legacy wagon cargo tray:

The shape of my trunk looks a lot more like the Legacy wagon cargo tray than the Forster. Plus, I called the local Subaru dealership and they price matched Subaruparts.com's price! NO SHIPPING CHARGES! I'll let you know how it fits (or doesn't). At the worst, I'll have to do a little trimming on it to get it to fit.

I have the nets installed on my 08, the are useful enough. I mostly use them to store things like grocery bags and any other small thing that I don't want sliding around.

Here's the 2000 wagon liner in the 2006 sedan trunk. It's slightly deeper than the sedan trunk, so it curls up over the fold just a little, which is nice since it protects the carpet at that point.

Very curious to see which one fits better (Forester or Wagon)....I need one soon also like everyone else.

It looks like the legacy wagon tray fits in Montana's. I think the one I bought was hard plastic, so if the unit is a little long I'll have to trim it. I won't get it until tomorrow, so I'll post pics on Monday.

wrxvt - yeah, read about the loss in the paper this morning. Oh well. Football season is only four months away.

has anyone tried the cargo nets for the leg sedan?

they work ok? and I suppose the will fit on my '08 right?

I got them in my 08. They're pretty small...smaller than a typical plastic grocery bag, however, they're still useful for small items. I have a first aid kit in one and a 12-volt air compressor in the other. They fit perfect and prevent these items from sliding around in the trunk.

I do wish there was one that would go across the length of the trunk though. My Mustang had one which was great for holding groceries (such as 1-gal milk jugs), but it had a bad habit of getting caught up in the trunk latch.

There is a fold-up cargo organizer you can buy though, but I've also seen them at Target and other stores so you might be able to get them cheaper than Subaru would sell it to you.
