Pros and Cons.

So, I just found out I can get a loan from the bank to buy a car. I really want a Subaru Legacy. Can anyone tell me some pros and cons of having the car?

I don't own a gt, but still think the car is great. Handles just as good in the snow as my old Grand Cherokee did, gets 25mpg average, pretty quick acceleration, low center of gravity keeps it tight to the road. Some cons....the back seat isn't huge? lol, that's really I could come up with.

Thanks, I'm looking into getting a 2001 or 2002... my bank will approve me for a loan but it can't be older than 7 years.

Good that it does well in the snow, I live in PA and we tend to get a lot of it here, plus they don't really plow our street lol.

I'm also tired of driving trucks and mini vans. My fiancé and I have a truck and when I used to live with my parents, my mom had a mini van and my dad a truck. I just want a car that has two front seats, two back seats and a trunk. lol.

Great car in the snow, subaru's AWD system is one of the best. This does just as good as my F150 $wd if not better in the snow escept not as much ground clearance

Try to find a smokin' deal on an '05 GT. I've seen them go for as low as $15K around here. See if the bank can swing that, then go internetz shopping. ;)

I like the fact that it's a sleeper. And not as common as a wrx or sti (at least here in hawaii). It's awd which is always a plus for safety. All in all I have no complaints with this car. The only con is, you won't be able to keep it stock. But is that really a con?

My parents had an '02 L (base model). Dead reliable, I don't remember anything going wrong with the car. Perfect size, great turning radius, good visibility, fit anywhere, all the controls worked great. Very uncomfortable seats (test drive before you buy!), the nonadjustable lumbar poked into my back. The automatic transmission had this weird lurch between first and second gear that always made me bob my head. Steering was a little light but it was extremely composed on any road or highway.

My 2 cents ;)

lol. My fiancé and his brother said it would be better for me to get an AWD car, then a FWD car. So the Legacy was the first car I actually liked. I just don't want to make any mistakes about buying the car.

Absolutely great car.

Awful customer service from Subaru dealerships.

If you get the MT (non-Spec B) be careful in slick areas. The AWD system in it is 50/50 all the time, so your rear has a tendency to throw itself out under hard acceleration when turning at the same time.

I've had a lot of stupid problems with my car (stereo decides to stop working, sunroof decides to stop working, can't use the A/C because it will flood the passenger footwell with condensation, driver side mirror stretches and shattered in the heat, TPMS is extremely sensitive and flaky, various rattles from the dome light and rear deck brake light) - but on the whole, gas mileage, driver comfort, safety, power, and price are well above par for a 3500lb car.

+3 on an '05, GT or not!

I have an '05 GT wagon, true sleeper. Lots of upgrades from the pre '05's. Wagons are low on insurance and w /snow tires, the AWD system is AWSOME in wintery weather. Almost 55K miles and no major problems w/ mine.

and wagons have a 40/ 60 AWD split, favor to rear.

that's my $.02

I really want a sedan because I think the wagon would be too big for me to drive. Plus I don't want a lot of room in the back due to the fact that my fiance loves car audio and will probably turn my car into his next "car audio project" lol.

False. There is nothing different about power train between wagons and sedans.

MT LGT has 50/50 torque split. AT LGT has 45/55 or 40/60 (can't recall) torque split.

All this info is related to 05+ LGT. Pre-05 LGT (non-turbo) is totally different animal.

Wagons are far superior for audio than sedan.

I was refering to the '05+ Legacy wagons. and as I said, it's a 40/ 60 rear bias split.

and I'd have to agree w/ wagons being superior with sound systems; more usable space and more open air for sound travel.

2005 LGT MT wagon has 50/50 split like the sedan.

We live in York, PA. My family is from MD though. I do plan to put a system in my car, I just don't need a HUGE system. I just want something I can enjoy and maybe take to a Db drag race every once in a while.
