Hey eveybody,

I'm new to this forum but not to car forums. I've been a long time member of mymonte.com and have a show car 95 Monte Carlo supercharged that runs mid 12's.

My Subaru interest began in college when my dad backed into my buddies 91 legacy FWD. It had 220,000 miles on it and they didn't want to fix the headlight and windshield so they gave it to me for a dollar, (but they didn;t charge me the dollar). They were from PA and have inspections and didn't want to make it legal.

So lucky me I had a beater for college, and i BeAT the living crap out of that car. Eventually the head gasket went at 240k and I didn't want to fix it because I got my current 94 Legacy AWD. So I made it into a field beater since it overheated in 15 minuntes i couldn't go to town and back. So for 9 months I tortured the car through our 125 acres in the part tree farm, part hardwood property. Power shifting, drifting, jumping a large wood chip pile, every week until it overheated. The car held up very well, even as it ran hot it ran great. One day my buddy came over with a 91 cavalier and wanted a derby. So we videotaped my leagacy destroying his POS chevy. His bumpers were gone in ten minuntes, trunk lid gone in an hour, radiator leaking sone after, and eventually battery cable melting to the subframe and leading to the demise of the cavy. My car only suffer minor dings and scratches, those bumpers are amazing! My brother did help with his mid 80's grand marquis, so the cav had no chance.

The next time we hit the trails i went on our frozen swamp(about 4-6 inches of crappy spring ice. I had a blast with my studded tires, doing doughnuts, e-brake slides... until the pass. side fell throgh the crappy ice. I bolted from the car and hooked a chain to the toe hook. The water is only 2-4 feet deep but its all peat moss, so i had to pull it out asap. We fired up our 73 950 Cat and of course got stuck in the peat, so we went to our sand pit and got our 450 Komatsu. That worked, except breaking the toe hook, and then we broke the back windows out and wraped the chain through the rear hatch pillars. I went good until the car got caught on a log the front tires came ou out of the water and the chain pulled through on of the pillars, it was awesome. We pulled in out and the cab was full of water. The best part was when it started up and i drove awy with a gurgling sound from the intake.

Eventually the clutch melted away and i scrapped the car.

My current 94 AWD Legacy has been to Silver Lake 3 times and will easily go up any hill. Thats my in the avatar jumping it 4 years ago. It will be my full time Silver lake and winter beater. So I hope i see some other Subaru's at Silver Lake this summer.

I have the derby on tape also, I have a total of i hour on tape, I just need to figure out how to transfer it to computer. It was done 4 years ago on a mid nineties video camera with a cassette tape.

If you know someone with a standard DVD-recorder, you can plug the camera into the composite video and audio "IN" on the DVD-recorder (yellow, red, and white RCAs), then press play on the camcorder and hit record on the DVD-recorder.

If your camera cannot act as a VHS player (with composite-video output), do the same thing by putting the tape in a VCR and plugging the VCR into the DVD recorder.

Or even easier, there are now DVD-recorder/VHS combos that allow you to easily convert VHS tapes onto disk. They generally run between $150-300. If you have a lot of old videos, this may be a worthwhile investment for you.

Once it is on disk, you can save it as a file on your computer and post up highlights. If you have a recent version of windows, it will come with windows "movie maker" that allows you to chop it up and "publish" it to your computer (save it as a file).
