Problems with SPT Intake?

Just wondering if anyone else has had issues with the filter falling off. Had the Dealership put it on. Checked it out before I left and everything looked great. Once I got on highway, I noticed that it was a little louder and sounded rough at WOT. Also, if i held in clutch to idle it would just stall out. Got home and found the filter completely off and just sitting on the floor! Put back on and haven't had an issue yet(24 hours). Just wondering if anyone else might have had issue.

No issues here. They may not have tightened it at the dealership(sad). On a side note, when it comes time to replace it, I used a universal K&N filter to go on, much better quality and more open to air. Also I used the waterproof filter wrap on it.

Pretty ridiculous if the dealership can't put an intake on properly. I have to go back tomorrow morning to pick up the heatshield. How do you like the K&N? Louder?

It sounds just the same as I still have the spt intake parts, just not the filter. I am a bigger fan of k&n quality. I did however keep the old spt filter so when I take it to the dealer I can slap it on so the don't try any of that old k&n over oiling bs they like to try.

that actually happened to me a few weeks ago, exactly the same symptoms (louder and rougher idle, clutch in = stall) but i re-installed it myself and tightened the clamps around the filter head.

so far, so good *fingers crossed*

Question: Did you unhook ur battery when you installed it? Sometimes when accelerating hard it'll feel a little choppy and I read that you should unhook the battery for install to reset ECU or something of that nature. If the dealership couldn't tighten a filter on an intake, they more than likely didn't do that either.

yeah when i 1st got my spt intake it did the same thing like 3 times . I think that the filter just had a little bit too much oil on it . but after drying it a few times and reinstalling it it hasn't given me any shit for a few months ! good luck . just make sure that the clamp is as close to the edge of the filter , and as close to the intake as possible
