ScoopMan Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Let me see, AEM cai is great except on rainy days, K&N is too loud, Perrin short ram has seriously mixed reviews and SPT is basically awful. Edmundu liked both the AEM and the AVO. What about the Fujita, Blitz, Cobb, etc? I have an AVO panel with the vf40 at the moment, but consensus is that the stock airbox is too restrictive for the larger turbo that I will be installing soon. Also, what about aftermarket inlets? Aside from the bling factor, is there any real advantage over the stocker? Daily driver reliability is paramount, don't want to sacrifice that for the sake maxing out the dyno numbers. Thanks!
jim1969 Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Blitz is loud. I think the Cobb isn't quiet but with the new box it may be a little quieter.
AWDxBOOST Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 k&n really isnt that loud...i have no idea why ppl keep saying that. its an intake, so of course a more free flowing setup is going to make more noise worst case, you make your own intake shroud to keep the noise level down
Infamous1 Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 I vote the K&N it is the most tuner friendly intake from what I have experienced and heard. Also it really isn't that loud when used with the heat sheild and can be made even quieter if you fully enclosed the heat sheild.
rao Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Stock Rob IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR YOU SHOULD NEVER DRIVE IT
Legacy_GT_Pilot Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 With an AVO420 or the 20G you will likely be running into MAF issues with the stock intake, and maybe even with the AEM. I have a 20G with meth, and was hitting 5 volts on the AEM consistently in cold weather. I've since switched to the AVO which is larger and now have some much needed headroom.
