WoDan23 Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Ok so i found this really nice looking '00 Legacy GT Limited. Gorgeous car. Looks to me like it was kept in tip top shape and i drove it and everything seemed ok ( except a CEL that the dealer said they would fix) Now the car is only about 6500 but it has 125,000 miles on it!! My mom drives a legacy with 135,000 on it and doesnt have any problems, but still it seems kinda iffy and i just wanted to get some second opinion. Attached are some pictures of the car, anything i should look for particularly? Thanks for all your help! (BTW my name is Dan, Nice to meet you guys!) anyway on to the pics: http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m320/WoDan32/img023.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m320/WoDan32/img022.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m320/WoDan32/img021.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m320/WoDan32/img020.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m320/WoDan32/img019.jpg (sorry cell phone pics )
cmc032 Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 125,000 miles ..... eh thats a lot. I would save up for maybe another couple months and spend a little more and get one with around 75,000 miles on it. This car is nice though
WoDan23 Posted March 14, 2008 Author Posted March 14, 2008 i see what your saying...but every newer legacy around here. GT ltd or not with under 100k is at least 11k!
bendite Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 I have a wagon with 150K on it that is a 2000. It's been a great car and it still runs well. These are 250K+ motors so it should be good to go for a while. This is one of the years that had head gasket issues so beware. The CEL might be an injector going bad or clogged. Price seems a little high but a cool car none the less.
WoDan23 Posted March 14, 2008 Author Posted March 14, 2008 well thats the thing. i can get that car down a ton. i already talked to the guy and gave it a test drive. he said the CEL will be run and fixed and i do get a 6 month warranty to find any problems... i just can't decide if i want to grab it. It really is so SOOO clean! It seriously looks like a showroom car in person, i can tell it was never beat on
icrackedcorn Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 you would love that car, I wouldn't be too worried about the mileage if it's serviced and clean but where do you live with those prices?? obedience to church and state is subjugation to the unjust authority of men
Osei Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 See if there are maintenance records available. Especially clutch replacement and head gasket. Plus see if any piston slap issues. Then Carfax. Will they let an independent mechanic look it over? If all is good, your choice. O.
WoDan23 Posted March 14, 2008 Author Posted March 14, 2008 I can talk to them about service, didnt really ask, and i live in northeast PA, so one other thing was rust, but it seems like this car has never seen a snowflake, but it just seems too good to be true
WoDan23 Posted March 14, 2008 Author Posted March 14, 2008 oh and yea they will let an independent mechanic look it over. My friend bought his '00 jetta from this guy and he had no problems. Guy is real cool too
meier motor sports Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 looks good to me. i like that body style too
Reuben Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Thats pricy... i got a 98 twin turbo GTB for $6700 US, with 70,000k's.. Gotta love NZ If you get it, for the love of god, ***JDM IT*** Those USDM bumpers are fricking UGLY http://images.trademe.co.nz/photoserver/83/61427983_full.jpg
laz Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 So how much would the Turbo GTB be worth round trip to and from NZ??? To the OP it looks good, and the price is decent. Just listen to your gut! X ---
whitetiger Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 125K miles means nothing. If the car is in good shape and has no big problems, ten is no reason why it cant get to 200K miles
WoDan23 Posted March 14, 2008 Author Posted March 14, 2008 ok i think you guys helped alot so far thanks! im gonna go down today and see if it has any service records and get the vin for a carfax. if it has a a new clutch, head casket, and a clean carfax its sold. and if i can get the price down even better!
