Daveyup Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 Where is the PCV valve located on a 1994 2.0 twin turbo leggy? What are the chances that cleaning the PCV will cure a heavy front of engine oil leak?
RudeMood Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 ummmm. If the oil is not leaking from where the valve is, then i highly doubt cleaning it will do anything. That's like washing your feet after you take a dump instead of wiping your ass. Why not find out where the oil leak is coming from, then fix that?
Daveyup Posted March 13, 2008 Author Posted March 13, 2008 The reasoning is that if the PCV valve is blocked the crankcase will pressurise and force oil out of any weak point.
ehsnils Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 It can't hurt to clean the PCV valve, if that helps it's good, if it doesn't you have wasted some time and got yourself dirty. Of course - the leak may remain and have to be fixed even after the valve is cleaned. But if an engine starts to shoot out various seals it may indicate that you have a more serious problem building up where the sealing between piston and cylinder is insufficient.
RudeMood Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Leaky main seal? Leaky oil pan? Where is the leak coming from?
Daveyup Posted March 16, 2008 Author Posted March 16, 2008 Don't know yet not had a good look but for what I've seen its very hard to tell!
Prime Power Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Some rislone always helped me on fixing oil leaks.
Bdubs Posted March 17, 2008 Posted March 17, 2008 If you have a heavy leak from the front its the main seal or oil pump and cam seals. Easy way to tell if its the oil pump and cam seals is if the inside of the timing belt cover has oil inside of it.
