Africarising Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I don't see any comparisons between these tires on an OB (I have a '07 H6 OB wagon). Both tires seem to get good reviews. Does anyone have any comments? Are the S4 worth $30/tire price difference? Not sure if the S4 is needed as this is an OB not a "sport car" (nor have I mad any mods...yet). Thoughts? **I was told (and from pictures on Yokohama's website) the AS430 are the same as H4S, just NTB only product.
fuse Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 I got the S4s as a top-of-the-line All-Season tire, primarily to improve traction in wet weather and light snow. So far I'm very happy with them. Looks like the H4S is just a step down. Lower speed rating (130MPH vs 168MPH) and just a little lower in TireRack's reviews. Are the S4s worth the extra $? Maybe not if the H4S is 95% as good.
Africarising Posted March 12, 2008 Author Posted March 12, 2008 I ended up with the Yoko H4S (going on this Friday), as I was able to get them for $125/tire vs. $165 for S4. For the price difference, and the fact that my wife mainly drives the OB (and not very aggressively requiring the S4), the H4S were sufficient. BTW, the other difference is that the H4S have a 60k mile tread life warranty, while the S4 have none.
