lilbrudder Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 i've been thinking of this paint scheme on my wheels for a bit now so i photo shopped it on before i try it. mid spoke will retain oem color or get polished while the rest will get painted with the same color in the headlight, a metallic graphite grey. what do ya think? ya or na?
welby Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I wondered how that would look one day when I was outside just glancing at the car. Seeing the photchop, I'm not sure if I like it or not. I do, but I don't, know what I mean?
boostsr20 Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Its a personal preference kind of thing but I don't really care for it. I think I'm going to go a cuple shades darker on the whole wheel and call it a day.
grimbeaver Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Looks a bit weird imo. Ive seen a carrera gt with a wheel scheme like that (similar style wheels to us but narrower spokes) and it seems to pull it off ok
lilbrudder Posted March 11, 2008 Author Posted March 11, 2008 yeah, a carrera gt has a tendancy to pull off pretty much anything, haha. well, guess i would be the only one hinking it looks better than stock, maybe i won't be painting.
Gire Posted March 11, 2008 Posted March 11, 2008 Paint the whole wheel in that metallic graphite grey and you're all set. Or polish the wheels completely. (I used to work at a custom metal polisher in my teens and still love the look of polished rims. ie: not chrome)

Pics?
Blue GT Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 just my opinion but yuck. I 2nd the full polish or full grey, not both
Gire Posted March 12, 2008 Posted March 12, 2008 I'm intrigued, I love chrome shine, but not the stereotypes that go along with it. Pics? I was polishing metal about 15 years ago... mostly Harley parts, wheels, big blowers off of semi trucks, valve covers, turbos, etc. 15 years ago means I have no digital pics to share... I'm a huge fan of polished metal, and not so much chrome plating. Polished wheels will look good forever and can be properly maintained in a way that chrome cannot. Just buy a tube of Autosol or Mother's polish and clean up your polished wheels once a season, and they look brand new and sparkly again.
