Beanboy Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080303/subaru_of_america_auto_sales.html?.v=1 Sales of the Legacy fell about 9 percent to 5,255 vehicles from 5,776 in February 2007. Total sales in the month fell to 12,907 vehicles, 32 fewer than in the year-ago period. Adjusted for one additional selling day in February 2008, Subaru's sales fell 3.8 percent. Adjusting for one additional day, sales have dropped 5 percent this year. -B http://www.standardshift.com
CTlegacy06 Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80509 Jan Sales: -6.5% Overall down Subaru not doing so hot when gas is on the rise and other makes are offering stability control systems in FWD vehicles. The current Legacy is an aging pathform. And like any model in its last year it should see lower sales especially with no significant trims, powertrain upgrades or price cuts. Sure it was recently face lifted but that doesn't necessarily "count" for much other than some slight exterior changes.
rao Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Down slightly - they are down from sales that were down last from sales that were down the year before http://vocuspr.vocus.com/vocuspr30/Newsroom/ViewAttachment.aspx?SiteName=Subaru&Entity=PRAsset&AttachmentType=F&EntityID=105655&AttachmentID=3fc52c29-d202-4442-abfc-17d24b73e1a0 Rob IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR CAR YOU SHOULD NEVER DRIVE IT
CTlegacy06 Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 So in other words... SOA has a bad case of the Downs
Beanboy Posted March 4, 2008 Author Posted March 4, 2008 "Sales of Subaru vehicles are up over the same period in 2007, led by strong sales of the company’s Impreza, Legacy sedan and Tribeca models. February retail sales (not including fleet sales) improved over 9.6% versus prior year. Fleet deliveries are expected to be made up later in the year." How many should we give away to keep our numbers looking good? -B http://www.standardshift.com
dan_m Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 lots of competition out there re: the uber hot 135i just eat away at potential subie sales ( LGT and sti )
nemo Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 ^ yeah. Subaru needs to step up their game, or they're gonna be forced to leave. If you don't vote Trump, out, you're a bigot who hates america.
Beanboy Posted March 4, 2008 Author Posted March 4, 2008 Very curious to see how the new Impreza does once reviews are out and the normal selling cycle starts, also the number of WRX and STI sales in there, but I think that will be tough to breakout. As far as the Legacy goes, well, there are ton of crossovers in the market, and more and more seem to be entering every year aiming directly at the Outback and Tribeca market, I think it will be fairly tough for the Outback to maintain the sales level it has in the past. -B http://www.standardshift.com
CTlegacy06 Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/04/by-the-numbers-february-2008/ Well at least Subaru wasn't the only one with losses.. it seems only Honda, MINI, Mazda and Mercedes were in the green out of that list. The overall declining market is leaving people with less money to spend trading in for new models and I'm sure they are looking more for fuel efficient alternatives than the SUVs and large cars that made the bulk of all of these Make's sales.
rbl2 Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Sales were up for Legacy sedan by over 30% at retail level. Subaru gained in a down market at retail. Not a bad month IMHO.
CTlegacy06 Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Sold numbers may not tell the whole story. It would be nice to find a reliable source that showed Subaru's profitability relative to total cars sold and divided by model profitability.
