Headunit Install HELP!

i just purchased the Pioneer avic d3 last night(got a great deal too good to pass up) and have found too many problems in trying to install it already. can I purchase the face plate from Crutchfield for the 07 Legacy 5EAT (no stock sub) and just dremel out the upper pocket part and flush mount my new toy? Can someone please offer me some help or point me in the right direction of where to buy or how to make a face for this unit. Its a double din, no motorized face. I have two Alpine v12's to install (1-4channel and 1 mono sub) as well some Infinity 6022is components 6.5's and coax.'s for the rear doors. HELP ME, im itchin to get this thing in:spin:. Ive tried some searching and have found the japan direct site, but im not certain thats what im looking for, especially for the price!

We need more info. Do you have the HVAC with the dual zone climate control (electronic), or the manual HVAC?

 

If you have the dual zone electronic climate control, it's going to be expensive and time consuming to get that installed.

^+1......or you can buy the AVO double din bezel that replaces the stock cubby.

MAN AC controls............. and not sure its gonna fit the cubby. although id prefer it to. the crutchfield unit looks doable, with a lil trim work cutting out the top. http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Group/ProductMenu.aspx?g=112200&tp=3121

for the cost, i my just purchase it as well the wiring harness and give it a go. ive searched all over this site as well links provided about dash kits and none seem to have my EXACT trim piece. this ones pretty darn close, but i may have to shave that upper portion off a lil??!! ok you savvy installers, gimme some word. BTW, im not 100% positive it WOULDN'T fit the cubby, but it doesn't seem as if there will be enough install room behind it to mount it FLUSH. flush mount it key to me. anyone know the depth with the cubby removed?

BTW, i took out the cubby and found a nice NASTY plastic bracket behind the console, not sure if i should cut and try to mount my avic d3 there, then run the climate and clock down to the cig lighter and ashtray. gonna run the ipod cable under the shift console and use the lil change pocket for the mounting bracket for my nano. i should've taken pics last night, but didn't. my console isnt like the rest ive seen on here. its not the auto HVAC controls, its has the 3 circular controls. help me of guru's of thee!

Honestly, if I were you, I'd purchase the kit from crutchfield (actually, I'd order 2, just in case), and try and trim it to fit the dual din face. IF you fail, take the 2nd one to a custom shop and see what they can do for you. Good luck with it.

done! and thanks to whomever posted the crutchfield coupon codes. they cam in handy. got the faceplate, harness and such coming in next week. wish me luck with the dremel. ill post install pics as the progress begins. BTW, anyone have any write ups (no i haven't searched yet) for removing the factory head unit on the 07 sub legacy 4dr 5EAT? (base model....thus far)
