So my lgt has 37,000 miles on it and it comes with the powertrain warranty up to 60,000 miles or i have the option to buy a warranty that covers everything up to 80,000 miles but it is $2,500 plus the interest.. what do you guys think. go for it or not?

$2500 sounds like a waste of money. My wife got the same deal on her Subaru Baja for $800 (an 80k mile warranty when she had 35k miles on it.) I won't be getting the extended warranty myself, because if any parts go after the drive train warranty is up, it will give me a chance to replace things like the Turbo with a new AVO turbo. Plus I generally don't trust dealers/ chain mechanics and I feel more comfortable doing my own repairs.

my extended warranty is only till 60k miles. Subaru must have changed up the warranty crap mid-way through '06 or something because I've seen some strange mileage on warranties.

I spent $550 or so to extend out to 7/70, through Subaru. Shop around.

That is through subaru. Is there any other places i can go through?

Talk to the guy from Grayson Subaru. Do a search for him. He'll take care of you. I think you'll get boned a little since you're past the initial 36k, i.e. they surcharge you, but the price will still be way better than what you were quoted.

i kept my powertrain the same 5/60, but i upped my bumper to bumper to 5/60 as well. I believe it cost me $680. Subaru seems to be pretty reliable, i just figured it would suck having my sunroof motor or something break and having to spend 300 bucks to fix it

Mine was 1200 dollars, it was 5 years or up to 100,000miles. I used part of my down payment to pay for that so i wouldnt have to fianance it.

Car warranties are like any other EXTENDED WARRANTY policy: the odds favor the seller/issuer of the warranty.

Before you buy an ext. Warranty -- read the fine print!!

If you don't maintain proper records, or plan on doing basic service yourself -- you'll quickly invalidate your warranty contract.

You can buy EW plans ALMOST anywhere and at ANY TIME (mileage) the question is: will they honor what they sold you when you need it???

Will you get "reimbursed" after you front the money for the expense of repairs? will they give you a loaner vehicle?

I personally - don't believe in these...the warrantor RARELY holds-up to their end of the bargain. There are ALOT of stipulations in those contracts...and adminstration of the warranty can be a subjective process when it comes to care and maintenance of a vehicle.

This of course...is MY OPINION.

I did all the work on my 2000 Trans Am, except when valve springs broke, the warrenty company sent someone out to watch everythign the dealership did and to make sure the parts didnt look like they were beat on. Everything went fine and i had headers and exhaust and some guages installed. I have never had a problem with a extended warrenty.

I was quoted ~2300 for the 3yr/36K for my 05 with 58600. I didn't really know they were negotiable. I need to give a call to the dealer I bought my FXT from.
