Underdog Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 saw one at Best Buy in Leominster the other day. it was urban grey (I think) and yes, it was teh sexay! The Crimson Dynamo
SteveFromMass Posted February 26, 2008 Posted February 26, 2008 I like the new wagon looks of the STI. Very much like what VW has done for years. The new STI is overpriced in comparison to the LGT IMHO. Steven
collegemt Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Did you guys see the new car and driver comparison of the STI, VW R32 and Lancer. Kinda dissapointing but the STI finished 3rd.
Underdog Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 ^ True but I think they acknowledged that they were all particularly good at the niche they fit. Hence the titles of "rock" "paper" and "scissors". The Crimson Dynamo

collegemt Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 They are all pretty good cars but i was suprised the R32 beat the STI since it is so underpowered in comparison. But it wasn't a traight performance test. I guess the old folgies testing them like the smooth power of the R32.

km580 Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 My local Suby dealer, Wyoming Valley Motors, has 2, 1 Blue and 1 Black. Almost $38,000.00. Fat people are hard to kidnap!!!
Bulldawg GT Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 The R32 is cheaper that the STI and EVO. That doesn't seem right given that the R32 is the most polished of the 3, and the way German cars get overpriced.

racerbynight573 Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 ive yet to see one in person but wont be surprised when it is a 50+ yr old man behind the wheel becuase unfortunately they are the only ones w/ enough money to get one right now
camber Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 I really like the new STI. I wasn't a big fan of the older one... However, when I first heard the STI was going to be hatchback only I was very disappointed. However, its really grown on me.... I don't put much stock in these comparisons. Go drive the EVO and STI and figure out which car fits your person preferences. I think its too close to call between these two cars.
05GT Guru Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 The STI is far better than the new EVo, hell the Evo 9 is better than the Evo X. But the R32 is a beast. I like the fact that the STI still performs great. The new EVO and STI are both ugly, the new EVO looks like a scion had sex with a mazda and the STI well i just dont like wagons. The are an ugly design not a sporty design at all. I have driven both the new STI and EVO, there are a couple dealerships around here that have both. I like the feel of the STI alot more
collegemt Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 true but it is smaller and a two door and a better power to weight ratio Actually if you look at the car and driver comparison article the R32 has the worst power to weight ratio and the STI has the best.

Are we looking at the same article? http://www.caranddriver.com/content/download/92338/1185317/version/1/file/Rochambeau+%C3%80+Go-Go+-+Vehicle.pdf The base price for the R32 is cheaper than the STI but it's actually $15 more expensive than the Evo GSR.
chenc544 Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Actually if you look at the car and driver comparison article the R32 has the worst power to weight ratio and the STI has the best. Yup. Evo 295 hp/3558 lbs = 0.083 hp/lb STI 305 hp/3366 lbs = 0.091 hp/lb R32 250 hp/3552 lbs = 0.070 hp/lb

True, but I don't think many EVOs are going to sell for 33K. Once you add Dual clutch, and nav you're at 40K. It's about the same for the STI (38K I think). The R32 only has 1 option, Nav or no nav which bumps the price up to 35K max.
05GT Guru Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 The r32 has more potential than the Evo or STi, horsepower wise
05GT Guru Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 I was just saying that if you built an r32 you could make more power than with the 2.5 boxer. Thats all
chenc544 Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 True, but I don't think many EVOs are going to sell for 33K. Once you add Dual clutch, and nav you're at 40K. Not true, you can go over the evom.net and get a new Evo X GSR base for $31.7k from a vendor right now. BTW, the Evo X GSR cannot be had with SST transmission, only the MR comes with it.
chenc544 Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Who cares the new evo is ugly and slower Who cares the R32 is boring and slowererer...
05GT Guru Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Hey the r32 aint my dream car lol. All 3 cars are ugly
