lester_strud
Can anyone advise me on upgrading my brake system. My Subaru dealer in Canada (Toronto) told me that I have to replace my Rotors and Pads, front and rear. This is going to cost $1250. I started to think this would be a good opportunity to get better brakes outside of the dealership for a similar price. Does anyone have any suggestions and recommendations on where to buy, if possible in Canada? I found this website but was not sure if it was any good. http://www.autopartsway.ca Called that website and they are no help at all. If they were to charge you duties and taxes, it would be around $130 at most. All in all you would save $100 and blow the water out of the OEM setup. If you have someone you know that lives close to the border, that would open up a lot more options like King of Parts. In that case I would do db4000 rotors front and back. wheatleya
dba 4000 and hawk hps, and do it yourself = big money saved and way better than stock.
Shooter_Jay
If you have the time, do it yourself. Seems to me like 300$ in parts max, but don't hold me to that I'm just guessing. And rotors are generally very easy to change.

Is this for upgrade, or regular maintenance? If you want to 'upgrade' - just get better pads for the stock rotors. SOLD | '06 spec.B - VF52/AVO/740cc/Up/Down | 238awhp | 50-80mph 3.1 seconds. lester_strud
"have to replace my rotors..." ??? Really? Are they warped or shaking when you brake? The dealer says the rotors have 20% left on the Front and Rear and that I need to replace both Pads and Rotors within the month. and yes the quoted price was for Standard subaru parts and labour. $580 for the front and $560 for the rear. Then add the taxes at 13% No shaking yet Thanks for the help
wheatleya
How many miles do you have. I would call up the king of parts and order either: New OEM rotors, hawk HPS, and some brake fluid or DBA 4000's, Hawk HPS, and some brake fluid or just pads and fluid It is very easy to do rotors and pads, just ask REM870 it only takes 30 minutes. You probably don't even need new rotors, but how m?any miles do you have

King of Parts can ship for $75US to Toronto
wheatleya
I have a hard time believing you "NEED" rotors at that mileage/km, but I don't know how hard you drive. It would still be half the price even if you ordered rotors, and I assure you that you only need front rotors. Maybe a friend can give you a second opinion. dmp
hey man - fly me to where you're at - figure $200. Buy OEM pads online, and I'll change them for you. Just put me up for the night and transport to/from the airport. OR - I can do a 'how-to' for you and post up. My car doesn't need brakes, but they are SOO EASY it'd take me longer to type out the how-to, than it'd take to do the swap.
