dr._scott Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 2000 Legacy GT - 73k The last few weeks I've been having trouble when trying to set cruise. It won't take consistenty. I have to hit it a bunch of times before it will set. Even worse, it won't consistently cancel either. I have to brake or turn cruise off on the dash to cancel. I think the switch feels like it takes more pressure to get it to move than I remember. I'm hoping it's just dirty and not broken. Anyone else had a similiar problem? Can the switch be cleaned? If so with what? Can it be cleaned in place or does it have to be removed? If it is broke, what suggestion do you have for a parts source?
mbshop Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 don't know much about the suby system but it sure sounds like dirty/bindng throttle linkage. it should disengage as soon as you hit the brakes. george
dr._scott Posted February 21, 2008 Author Posted February 21, 2008 It does disengage when braking..and to follow-up. I experimented on the way home since my initial post. Push down on the control to set cruise, usually doesn't work. Hold it down and wiggle front to back, eventually it sets. Same with cancel, pull towards me to cancel..nothing. Hold towards me and wiggle up and down it cancels. Seems surely like a switch problem.
