Thule vs Yakima roof storage boxes

hope this is the right forum.

 

I was lookin at Thule and Yakima storage boxes and can't really see much difference other than the Thule's open on both sides. I really just need something that easily mounts to my roof of my truck that'll hold my boards and some other junk.

 

how did you guys choose yours?

Seach Thule Atlantis...there is a review another member did witha yakima box vs. a thule box.

 

I went with a Thule Atlantis 1600 on our OBi. Its Freakin Awesome, three board w/bindings, pack and play crib for baby, two pairs of boots, our luggage (me, KC & baby) and misc bag of snowboard stuff (iron wax and misc)

 

Tons of room!!

 

The trunk in the OB was pretty much empty with just KC & Baby's must need travel bag.

 

FYI: the dual opening action is pretty handy...especially unloading and loading stuff into it.

I'm kinda in the same boat as you, Merv with the 2+baby setup. I didn't think you wagon guys would have any storage issues. doesn't the wagon have the 60-40 seat split or was that later years too? we're takin a 4th passenger up so can't drop the seats in my wife's truck.

Yakima box, yes it hauls tons of stuff. I've had it over ten years and the original fitment was for a Chevy Blazer so it doesn't let my hatch open al the way... but it'll do in a pinch.

Spats and tails are old mods from... '05?... complements from HKC-Speed.

 

But the rain guards are new as of last month, another Asian import (Hong Kong from a local member).
