lil_z_33 Posted February 18, 2008 Posted February 18, 2008 what brand of coilover is best valved for a lower spring rate??? i believe the coilovers on my altima were 7F/5R in terms of kg/mm and it was slightly too stiff for me...however I did keep the rears at full stiff out of 36 settings and the fronts at 24...I'm thinking to go with a lower spring rate on the legacy, but with the fronts having a lower rate then the rears on this car, I am a little confused...also, tein flex's run 8F/9R...i would think that is gonna be insanely stiff...any help is appreciated...
Metal2You Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 People say the KW Variant 2 are nice and soft for coilovers. I got the Megan Racing set because they're cheap and people say they're relatively soft too.
Gt4Me Posted February 19, 2008 Posted February 19, 2008 I have BC's , 8k/7k. I think its a perfect comprimise for the street.

Spring rates are nothing more than letting you know how much suspension travel you will have on the given set up.. I think you are looking way too deep into the specifics to get what you need. Also, it sounds like you need to understand how suspension works before having your mind set of certain spring rates and 'valve settings'. Oh, if you must know, since I run my GT on the track and even daily drive it, I would love to have 12kg/10kg springs.. but ultimately, if I ran on the "dream" setup, I think the car would do well using 14kg/12kg for my driving on the track and still be doable for driving to work the next day. I just need a 3-way adjustable shock that can handle that amount of volume of fluids (which probably at that level and the type of application, I would probably need remote reservoirs) to make it work since I'm shortening the suspension travel even more. Take the time to do some research.. I know I've probably explained a lot in the past of my 10,000+ posts about what info you are looking for (particularly it sounds like you need to know the basis of how suspension works first before looking into specific detail). I take it that you are not racing the car, and that you only want a sportier ride? Keefe
