SpecBee Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Documentation states to clean every 50K miles but it looks like it needs it now. Any thoughts on using windex or a degreasing cleaner & water vs the recommended expensive cleaner? Silicone spray for the oil? Anyone here with experience?
dr. pepper Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 I've had mine in for 12k+ miles, never cleaned it, hasn't needed it yet. But I would suggest just dropping by autozone and picking up the "re-charging" kit for $10.
itsme Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 only use the recharge kit because you need to reoil the filter after you clean it. Do not over oil it! just run a thin bead of oil alonog the top pleat and let it work it's way down. let it sit for awile and touch up the parts that are still white. SpecBee Posted February 15, 2008 Author Posted February 15, 2008 ^About how many miles do you find yourself recharging? How long does the kit last? If it's only $10 then it's not too bad...
itsme Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I do mine about every year. just because. Racer X FMIC for '05-'09 LGTs, '08+ WRX and '10+ LGT,'14+ FXT, and '15+ WRX TMIC Racerxengineering.com
