abakja1 Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 I recently sold my Advan RGII's 17x8.5" golds with 245/40s on them. They stuck like crazy, but found a good deal for 94 STI Gold BBS rims with Fuzion Z 225/45/17s. I really want to go with 18x8 later, but going to use the cash for 2nd car. Question is, does everyone with 245s or wider tires have problems with a lot of tire noise as I used Kumho MXs on my advans. I had 225/45/17s size Kumhos on SSR Comp Cs and never noticed road noise like I had with the Advans. It kinda had that 4x4 truck kinda hum that was very noticeable in the cabin. Of course, with the smaller width now with the 04 BBS and 225 width, standing takeoffs is a lot more fun again (zippier), but at the sacrifice for extreme grip. I may go 235s to stuff the BBS, but anyone want to chime in on your experiences with 235s on their 04 BBS rims?
EL PAALO Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I wouldn't cram 235's on a 7.5 The tread compound and lean towards performance vs noise and ride compliance is likely the cause of the noise. You can get quieter performance tires, they're just much more expensive. ps2 comes to mind.
