kienai Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 I have owned my car since June and today would be the third time I need my tires balanced. I hit about 55 mph and the car starts to shake like a messaging chair. I put on about 60 miles each day, about 70% highway and 30% local. I drive normal, I don't corner like a maniac. There isn't any pot holes or anything significant on the roads. When I had my Toyota I think I balanced my tires maybe three times total over the 4 years I owned it. So do those weights fall off the wheels pretty easily on the Subbie wheels?
whitetiger Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 If you get your wheels balanced but still have a vibration afterwards, then it can be one 3 issues. 1-the tire shop sucks. 2-you got a bent rim, which will balance on a machine but will cause a vibration when driven on. 3-you have a bad tire with a twisted belt or somthing, will also balance out on the machine, but cause a vibration when driven on. if it is 2 or 3, i sould be noticably visible when they attempt to balance your wheels, so it would be the tire shops fault for not noticing it and bringing it to your attention.
kienai Posted February 12, 2008 Author Posted February 12, 2008 Well, it could be 1, since I had to go back twice to get it completely fixed, it was a Subbie dealer. I asked them if the rim could be faulty since I'd owned for two months, but they told me it was fine. Well.. I'm bring it to a different dealer which seems a lot more professional, I guess I will ask them to check the rim and tires again.
