Hops Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 Alright, so I tried to do a Park City Ski Meet last week for my birthday. Lots of people showed up to party, but nobody came to ski! You guys drive Subarus! What did you get them for? So... Who are the skiiers? I'd like to plan a ski meet; possibly at one of my condos in Park City. Get all the Legacys (or other Subies) together, ski (or board) all day, party all night. Buy my cars!
Hops Posted February 7, 2008 Author Posted February 7, 2008 Am I really the only skiier in Utah? Buy my cars!
GTIan Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 The wife and I are heading to Salt Lake City on Saturday. We'll most likely be skiing/riding at Snow Basin and Powder Mountain. From what I hear this has been the best winter in a long time for the west.
Hops Posted February 7, 2008 Author Posted February 7, 2008 Oh yeah... It kicks ass. Check out Park City or Deer Valley if you get the chance. Buy my cars!
GTIan Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 She has family that lives 10min from Snowbasin, so we'll probably be there mostly. But if someone else gets a big dump we'll be heading there. Bringing my 4Frnt MSP's, Lib Tech Doughboy, and Burton Custom X so I'll be prepared.
GTIan Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Got back late Sunday night from a week of skiing in Utah. Figures that the week before we go out they got 94" of snow. While we were there we got 10" one day, along with 40mph winds, to make for some interesting skiing and driving conditions For the most part it was low 40's and SUNNY, so it wasn't too bad. Gallery of photos is here http://www.icdouglas.com/utah/
Hops Posted February 20, 2008 Author Posted February 20, 2008 Very nice week of skiing... I was at Deer Valley last week and it was beautiful. The snow wasn't spectacular, but the weather was very nice. Did you only do Snowbasin? I've actually never been there. Buy my cars!
GTIan Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 The snow wasn't spectacular, but the weather was very nice. Did you only do Snowbasin? I've actually never been there. For the most part it was windblown and crusty, but I'm an east coast skier so I'm used to icy conditions. There was certainly powder to be found in the valleys though. We mainly did Snowbasin, because it was 10 minutes from where we were staying. But we did hit Powder Mountain and Snowbird for a half day. Ended up on the board for a day and a quarter (half of a half day) and the rest was on skis. Didn't even get the monster board out since there wasn't enough fresh powder for it. We'll probably be out again next year for another ski trip.
Hops Posted February 20, 2008 Author Posted February 20, 2008 Nice... Snowbird is great, but it is always packed! Next time you're in town to ski, you can stay at one of my Park City condos and be within skiing distance of a lift. I usually rent them out during the season for skiing and the Sundance Film Festival, but one of them usually opens for a week. Very convenient! Deer Valley is only five minutes away from there, too. I swear, there are more people that ski here from around the world than locals. They really do take it for granted... I ski about 3 times a week and every day I meet people from around the world that come here just to ski. It really is amazing. Buy my cars!
Hops Posted February 20, 2008 Author Posted February 20, 2008 I'll plan another Legacy ski meet/party in Park City. If I can ever get any of the local LGT's to ski. Buy my cars!
Euclid Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 I used to be a ski instructor at Brighton, but haven't really been since i fucked up my knee.
Hops Posted February 20, 2008 Author Posted February 20, 2008 It's been a great season this year... Buy my cars!
