Hey guys,

It's about time to upgrade the wearing brake system on my 3 year old 2.5i. Car is for daily driving only from home to work, and playtime afterwards. I've never tracked the car, nor autoxing, but maybe some spirit driving?

The reason i'm considering to upgrade the brakes simply because the stock one sucks, and it gives me a peace of mind.

I've been considering getting DBA rotors mainly because they're Guranteed to Never Warp.

Since dealership only offers 1 time resurfacing rotor, and it's becoming a pain in the ass of the steering wheel shakiness.

I'm struggling with which option is good for me, as it's my daily driver. Something that works and a mild upgrade is what i'm looking. Tight budget, but if I have to spend a little and not to be worry about anything else except wearing items like pads, then i'm good.

Please give me some advice!!! Thank you very much!!!

Hi Michael, If you want to go with LGT brake, my front and rear calipers and roters will be available in two month. (They come with Project Mu HC+ pads 80% life left)

I'm going with the LGT brake upgrade myself. I will be doing DBA blank rotors, upgraded stainless lines, Hawk HPS pads and some motul brake fluidl. I just need to find some calipers...

ss lines, better pads (HPS in my case) and new fluid will work wonders for feel and better stopping.

Slotted only gives you bling (tho I have them). I had a BE before, so I used the rear rotors from my BE which were 11.3 versus the 10.6 of the of the BL chassis.

I had to change calipers (for the rear only in my case), which you will have to do if you go to GT size rotors.

In addition if you go to GT size rotors, you will have to go to 17" rims.

Note; the I ltd had 11.5 F versus the 10.8 of the std I.

Going to GT front will be ok, as long as you have or will go to 17" rims.

No different than the GT boys going to a BBK kit for their front.

They will not clear the 16's that were standard on the 05 I.

Can't answer why Brembo's are cheaper.

Thanks for the advice Osei!

Yes i've already got rid of my 2.5i 16" wheels, now have 18" so i'm good with clearing them. Can't wait to put on them GT brakes :)

Without knowing what the PO mean by "sucks", I'll offer my aberrant opinion that he start with tires.
06LOB2.5i MT, JDMRSB, GYTTs, HPS, LGT Mufflers & Leather Wheel, SubiMomo Knob, Inalfa Moonroof, Clutch Switch Bypass, DeDRLd, DeChimed, & Straight Headrest.

i just upgraded the rotors and brakes to aftermarket stuff from a vendor on the forum, and they work bling blinging great. i'm aggressive on the brakes and they have held up for 10k miles without warping and only cost me around $225 for the 4 rotors and pads.

For those of you who had upgraded the front to GT brakes, did you upgrade the lines as well?

since now i'm gonna be running GT front and 2.5i rear, i'll need 2 sets of brakeline

Maybe, maybe not.

For all practical purposes your car is still an I. Perhaps someone who has done this can chime in here.

All you are changing are rotors and calipers. Unless the banjo bolt location is rotated versus the I, it should be the same.

Technafit uses two different part nos, I would suggest you e mail them and ask.

Have fun.

The lines are the same for both the i and the gt.

The lines are a nice upgrade. I retained a set of 16" wheels for my winter rubber so can't go bigger on rotors. I already went to the braided lines (firms up the feel) - next upgrade for me will be pads.
