Legacy05 Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 So I pretty much have all of my suspension upgraded except for the front sway bar .... I am currently running the CUSCO rear ... should I be running the matching CUSCO front?
whitetiger Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 all depends on how you want the car to handle. do you want more or less oversteer? are you satisfied with the amont of front end grip you have? do you need the front to roll more or less? dont just upgrade for the sake of it. have a direction.
Legacy05 Posted February 4, 2008 Author Posted February 4, 2008 Well.... in the beginning I intended (maybe still one day) to auto-x this car ... so I wanted more oversteer and that's why I only upgraded the rear.
whitetiger Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 in that case, why dont you autox first and see how you do. then figure out what you want to change, and then buy the part that will give you the best results. Thats what i did with my car. i started autoxing with no suspension work, then bought my parts one buy one, and after each autox, i determined what id like to add or change and that what i did.
Legacy05 Posted February 5, 2008 Author Posted February 5, 2008 So does that mean you are running an upgrade front sway bar as well then? Thanks
whitetiger Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 yes i am, but im also running r-comps to maintain front end grip. upgrading the FSB will decrease lateral weight transfer up front which could decrease front end grip since there will be less weight on the the outside tire when turning. a fsb upgrade then could cause understeer depending on your tires. all this is why i say to race your car as is, and see how you do. YOu may actually run slower with a fsb upgrade.
Th3Franz Posted February 6, 2008 Posted February 6, 2008 on most subarus a bigger FSB will improve turn-in because it keeps the tire's camber from going positive. I did front and rear upgrades at the same time on my car and have been very pleased with the results. -Franz The end of a Legacy http://www.youtube.com/th3franz
