05/06 stage 2 vs 07/08 stage 2?

I was looking on Cobbs website at their map notes and i saw that stage 2 05/06 results in 20% HP increase and 38% increase in lb. ft. vs the 07/08 stage 2 map that results in 6%HP increase and 19% increase in lb. ft.

Why is their a difference? I know the ECU systems are different, but this is a huge difference.

I just got my 2008 LGT at stage 2 yesterday, i like the performance increase but it isn't as dramatic as i expected.

Comments apprecited.

Thanks,

Adam

it's different because of the rush of getting the AP out. the tuned conservatively just to have avaliable maps. they're still working on new maps and upgrades to the AP - one thing that i had asked them that is avaliable for 05-06 models -> hp/torque reading.

Forget the % differences, what's the actual difference in HP? My basic Stage 2 setup (cobb catted DP, TMIC, panel filter) put down 246HP at the wheels with the Cobb map, and 250 with a Protune that didn't even raise boost - so there is a lot more left on the table.

Do you have a 07-08 model?

Should i expect better maps to come out in the future?

I thought it was cause they haven't raised the boost as much on the 07-08 models yet. Guess they're still learning how the new system works

07. But again, don't assume that the 07+ maps aren't good based on % increases. the 07+ engine is different than prior years. Better heads, slightly different turbo, no up-pipe. So, say you're starting out with two cars, one puts down 200 stock, the other 210. After you mod them, they both put down 250. The one that started off at 200 had a larger % increase. At the end though, it doesn't matter since they're producing the same absolute power. As far as I can tell from my dyno experience, my setup is producing at least as much power as a comparable 05/06 would. There might very well be more power to be made once boost can be raised to take advantage of the TMIC, but for now, what do I care? It's still at least at the level of the prior years.

Better heads? I never knew that...nice!

Swing by again sometime and we can go for a cruise. I have a tbe, which might be negated with my 18" wheels and snow tires. I have a dyno sheet on my setup too.

There is plenty of power to be gained on them with a good tune. My car put down 279whp/304wtq at PDX Tuning yesterday (Perrin 2-pc catted DP, SPT CBE, AP, and AVO TMIC).

It is a very mild difference.

Jarrad from PDX seems to think the new heads allow about 10-15 whp differnce (al else being equal).

On his Mustang dyno he was consistently seeing a few stage2 STIs w/ the new heads make over 300 whp, before they were all a lot closer to 280.
