Banned Wagon Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 Well i have a 2006 3.0r. came with no gps so I got a Garmin Nuvi 680 it is a good unit with bluetooth and msn live traffic and gas prices. the install had a few requirements i had to make it removable, had to be in the dash (no wires and suction cup on the windshield). First i removed the factory pocket. the garmin fits perfectly in the opening top to bottom. left to right about a inch and half on each side I used the mount arm that come with the gps. I stuck the little disc with sticky tape on one side and smooth for the suction cup on the arm to suck to. it worked perfectly to hold the GPS in the dash. wired in the power supply behind the dash. then took some black stretchy black speaker cloth and stretch it over the opening from behind then hot glued it in place. cut a small hole for the ball mount for the gps and wallla http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/bannedwagon/Subaru/DSC00102.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/bannedwagon/Subaru/DSC00100.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/bannedwagon/Subaru/DSC00101.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v231/bannedwagon/Subaru/DSC00099.jpg
leftride Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 good fit, now you can throw a sheet of abs plastic on top, make a cut out and it would be a really clean look. *vb gallery*
Knight705 Posted January 29, 2008 Posted January 29, 2008 ^^ he mentioned it had to be removable so that cover plate wouldn't work.
eb50 Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 im gonna be attempting something like this with my 660 shortly. i do want to use the flat plastic like left ride did in his install with his drive and play, but also want to keep the door. lets see what happens
