j255c
So in continuation to my other thread found here http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74941, i think the culprit is my flywheel is going. The clutch is also going but still holds time to time, does anyone know what the general symptoms of a flywheel going? My car makes a vibrational chatter sound which is rpm dependent. Only does this on deceleration or when the clutch is pressed in. Thanks, Jeff 06 TB EVO IX SE stock turbo monster subaru hater
PhilT
If you are going to change the clutch, always swap the flywheel at the same time, then you know everything is good. Double Award Winning Legacy GT Wagon

Legacy05
On my car, I noticed a little shudder .... which I didn't know was flywheel related .. but when I had my clutch changed out due to a bad throw-out bearing my tuner told me my flywheel was borked. j255c
any detrimental effects that can happen for driving it a couple hundred miles w/ this? 06 TB EVO IX SE stock turbo monster subaru hater
Mr. Ed
any detrimental effects that can happen for driving it a couple hundred miles w/ this? i drove mine for nearly 2k...... it was extremely scary....if i needed the car to go, and go quick, it wouldn't because the clutch would slipover 3000rpms..... i had to stay off freeways and drive extremely deffensively...... I'd say...out of the 2000 miles, I had to negotiate out of about 5 situations that could have turned out badly.. that being said...after the fifth incident...I parked the car till I could change out the clutch and flywheel..... if your clutch is slipping badly in key gears and you are going to drive it, your putting yourself in a position that you could be looking at much worse than just a clutch repair....
