kman Posted October 9, 2007 Share Posted October 9, 2007 I have a '96 Legacy TS-R 2.0 imported from Japan. I live in the Cayman Islands where there is no dealership and the parts and mechanics are hard to come by. The rear differential gears have ground away and the vehicle is no longer drivable. I ordered an American rear differential (4.111 ratio) to replace the broken one. The part arrived and the American housing on the differential is larger than the Japanese housing and the axals do not fit so it is not compatable. Can the rear differential be disconnected? Is it safe/feasible to strip the gears out of the housing and hook up an empty housing? Any suggestions are much appreciated. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
