Richard B.
it was said in times past that some thought the sti was quicker on the track by short shifting. it is also said here that the turbo "dies" out practically right after a redline shift. has anyone short shifted and compared the times with redline shifting? -TT-
the small stock turbo on any ej25t runs out of breath higher up, so redlining doesn't necessarily give one the advantage. this must be what the people you are talking to are referencing. NSFW
In theory, you find a dyno chart, find the peak of horsepower curve, and shift just right of the peak, so that you resume just left of the peak. Looks like about 6k (depending on the dyno ). It doesn't feel especially strong up there, but I haven't got anything better to go by...
Infamous1
In reference to drag racing my times are a good amount quicker when shifting at around 6200 rpms vs redline. Roughly I would say probaly about .4 quicker in the heat, 90+ degrees.
