Don
Is anyone finding it hard to find some cheap 17's for mounting snow tires? Any recommendations?

ypipe_ok
Steel Wheels • Meet the basic needs of drivers who want the convenience of a winter tire package without the additional cost of an alloy wheel • Typically available in black or silver finish depending on the application • Basic styling can often be updated with wheel covers • Cost less than alloy wheels due to ease of manufacturing and lower material costs
Don
ypipe, are you saying that Tirerack has steelies that'll fit? The salesman I talked to yesterday told me only alloys will fit -- at $120 and up per corner, plus shipping -- yikes!
ypipe_ok
According to tirerack 16 x6.5 steels are available for the 05 outback. The 05 non-outback is limited to 17's, no steels available in this category. Outback's lift is beneficial in this case. $49 per corner.
gtguy
The Outback's smaller brakes are what allow it to fit 16s. The GT, however, has front brakes that necessitate 17s. A base Legacy or Outback can also run 16" steelies. The rest of us are in 17-inch land. $120 per corner is pretty cheap. That's cheaper than Rotas, for example.
