Coelli Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I grew up in L.A., where we have really damned good Mexican food. Not so much here in Boston so far. I know there's a place in Waltham off of Moody St. that's not too bad, and there's Jalapeno's in Walpole (wasn't impressed though). Any other recommendations? Preferably outside of the city, which obviously narrows my options. -Coelli
LongHiway Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Home made is the best option I've found. Everything else just seems like a small upgrade from Taco Bell. Haven't been to Sol Aztec in quite a few years, wasn't impressed.

RobE Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Vermont - A very windy state due to the fact that New Hampshire sucks and New York blows *lol* and where the hell did that come from? http://newenglandsubarus.com/
rjundi Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Ixtapa in the Fox run mall in Newington (Portsmouth) NH Is EXCELLENT!!! I couldn't get past the ketchup like salsa with the free chips. Paid for drinks and left.
LongHiway Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Every try Sierra's on the Weston / Maynard border? Maybe a bit better than the standard places but still not fantastic. But, a few good margaritas can make up for mediocre food pretty quickly.
fzanetti Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Ana's Taqueria for sure... Cheap, great quality and fresh, made to order Mexican food... Muy rica la comida!!!! You can get them at Porter Square in Cambridge, Davis Square in Somerville, Harvard St in Brookline, and some other locations I don't really recall... Worthy checking it out for sure, maybe our next meet can be at one of their locations!!! hehehehe Flavio Zanetti Boston, MA
Jonathan Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Guanachapis Restaurant (866) 587-1432 273 Moody Street Waltham, MA Acapulcos (978) 239-8182 1656 Worcester Road Framingham, MA (actually this is something of a chain resturant they are in Norwood, Sudbury, Milford, Franklin, Newton and Quincy as well.) Mexico Lindo (781) 662-4056 449 Main Street Melrose, MA Three Amigos (781) 438-2773 125 Main Street Stoneham, MA Rancho Chico (508) 643-2534 52 Washington Street Plainville, MA Ixtapa Cantina (866) 371-5461 308 Mass Avenue Lunenburg, MA El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant (401) 944-2212 355 Atwood Avenue Cranston, RI Yeah, I am not the only one stupid enough to trust a search engine to tell me where to eat. but all I am doing is kicking in a few places, feel free to shoot them down if you have been there and didnt like it.
Jonathan Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Every try Sierra's on the Weston / Maynard border? Last time I checked there were several towns between Weston and Maynard. Sudbury, Lincoln, and Wayland all spring to mind. EDIT: Actually Lorne already mentioned Sierra's: Alcapoco's in Sudbury and also on Route 1 in Norwood Sierra's on 117 in Sudbury What about Daniela's Cantina in Acton, and Framingham ? 208 Main St (in Acton), or 47 Beacon St (in Framingham - I think this is the site of the old Agean Resturant before they moved to where Chi Chi's used to be). http://www.danielas-cantina.com
crazytiger Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Get in your car right now and drive down here to Huntsville, Alabama. Go to Rosie's Mexican Cantina. You will not be disappointed. The food is as good as Mexican food could ever be, and the atmosphere is second to none. I would put that place against anyone's "favorite Mexican place" any time, any day.http://legacygt.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gifhttp://legacygt.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gifhttp://legacygt.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gifhttp://legacygt.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gifhttp://legacygt.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif
gianspi Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Mmmm, tacos. enough zip ties and duct tape will fix anything.
jRS2.5 Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Alamo Cafe 55 Medway St Milford, MA 01757 (508) 482-0030 Off exit 19 of 495. Good drinks, and authentic food. I also miss the Cal-Mex foods!! If you want some great chili's, check out http://www.new-mexico-catalog.com , you can order several versions of fresh chilis in the fall, and they ship to MA in about 3 days!! You get to roast your own. Mine even came with a pick data and time in the package. Hot green Chalma chili's.
Coelli Posted March 6, 2007 Author Posted March 6, 2007 Thanks for all the recommendations. I travel the 495 corridor pretty frequently, so I'll have to check out the place in Milford for sure. It just so happens that tonight my boss IM'd me and asked if I wanted to work a convention on Fri-Sun in L.A., so I might get my Mexican food fix soon anyway. w00t! -Coelli
