jagcars26 Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 It's worked fine fr the last two years, now its reading to cold. It's reading 18 when I know its 45 ouside. The rest of the computer ie mileage etc seems to be working fine. BTW where is the outside temp probe on the car anyway. Thanks in advance Rudy and I tried searching, nada. update,,the damn thing is reading fine now,,didn't work fr 3 days:confused: go figure. thanks anyway
Brady Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Too weird. If you want to find/check the sensor, it's located on top of the lower "cross-bar" of your front bumper skin to the left (while facing the car) of the middle splitter below the license plate. Best I can illustrate would be where the "x" is below _________________ \o /__x__| |_____\ o/ .. =============
rony Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Mine reads 2 to 4 degree warmer. Also, I have no front plate. My Car vBGarage
jagcars26 Posted February 28, 2007 Author Posted February 28, 2007 Thanks guys:) at least I know where it is now:icon_bigg

scottmcphee Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Clean the connector to the sensor (?) Poor conduction looks like added resistance, maybe.
one69chev Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 mine's off too, but i could care less. the main culprit is the plastic sensor material, although a lot of oem's use it, it doesn't conduct heat/cold as well as metal, hence a close but no cigar reading.... an interestingly boring side, ford has stopped using that type of sensor material for their coolant temp sensors because the inaccuracy was wreaking havoc on the pcm.....
mechdiff Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Mine consistently reads 2 degrees warmer than the actual outside temperature. I just have to do the math to get the correct temp. Since it has been mentioned that it is the plastic material that causes this, is there some sort of modification someone can do in order to make it more accurate? I asked the stealership about a recalibration but they said it is not possible.

jagcars26 Posted March 1, 2007 Author Posted March 1, 2007 Seen your gas mileage change? Nope, same ole 20-21 mpg,all the other readings seem to be dead on also.
